See how stupid you are? You don't know the difference between "said he will", like that poster wrote, and "said he wants". I hope the lobotomy wasn't too painful.
They both mean the same. Stop splitting hairs. JI isn’t getting every WR from 1500 to marathon before I castrate myself.
His goal is to get many WRs - what is your fu%&#NG problem with that?
Sifan Hassan says hi, second fastest all time in the mile and third all time in the marathon. Or Andreas Almgren, only person in history to run 1:45 or faster in the 800 and sub 27 in the 10k.
1500 and 800 are not sprint distances, it's perfectly possible to be elite at both middle distance and long distance.
HJK was referring to getting world records outright not just simply 2nd or 3rd all time slower than WR. Is Sifan a WR holder in both mile and marathon at the same time? The answer is no and biological fact proven you can’t train your body to master such great diversity of range.
These morons don't understand that. Yet they think they understand the sport.

No, it isn't his goal to get "many world records". It was explicitly to get all the records from the 1500 to the marathon. It is empty boasting. He won't - because it isn't possible.

10 is not many for you?
Give the link (you won't) where he has stated he wants every WR from 1500 to the Marathon.
There is no serious chance he will get close to that, but I will follow closely what he can achive in near future.
Mile seems possible (but I'm sceptical). 5000m definitely should be within his reach.
10000m? We have to wait, but I don't think he ever will go for it

He has said it in interviews published in threads on this site. From the 1500 to the marathon. You clearly don't follow the sport with any real knowledge.
Kerr will be under 22:30 for an 8k time trial easily. Otherwise he will just be holding back in reserve. He beat Jakob in a half, do you really think he can’t keep pace with Jakob in an XC?
He didn't beat Jakob in a half...he ran faster in a downhill half, and lost to a 13:13/27:36 guy in Dillon Maggard. Yes, I think Jakob would liekly trounce Josh Kerr in an 8K XC. Of course, we'll probably never know because Kerr finds European Championship races and Cross Country beneath him. Perhaps that changes with World XC in Florida? But he'd still defensibly run the 2K in that case I'd imagine on the relay.
Ask chatgpt. You don’t even follow the sport as well or as passionately as us.
How about you give me a quote then, retard? But that would make you look stupid, since that is not what he has actually said.

3 down, 7 to go: Jakob Ingebrigtsen’s quest for all of the distance running world records
Jakob Ingebrigtsen is planning on challenging the world record in 10 distance running events. He's already nabbed three of them. By Tim O'Hearn | Aug 28, 2024, 10:44 AM EDT ATHLETICS-DIAMOND-POL-MEN-3000M / SERGEI GAPON/GettyImages
The sturdiest record in all of track and field, albeit at a distance not contested at the Olympics, hadn’t been scratched by any of the greats who had attempted to lower Komen’s time. Jakob’s routine, clinical, businesslike facade cracked as he crossed the finish line in 7:17.55. He celebrated wildly, by his standards. In an Instagram post soon after the race, Jakob provided the following caption:
“Making history. What it’s all about! Three down, seven to go! What’s next?”
Jakob Ingebrigtsen, a prodigal perfectionist, stated his goal for absolute perfection. “Three down, seven to go” refers to world records. Jakob Ingebrigtsen intends to break world records in every relevant distance, from the 1500m to the marathon.

Kerr runs a HM for fun (but faster than Jakob and without having to walk). He is a md guy; he doesn't have pretensions to being a distance runner.

Exactly. He always was talking about breaking 10 WRs - but which 10 exactly? As far as I know he never has explicetely stated which exactly.
Three down? 2000m, 3000m and -1500m indoor or 2 Miles?
But that's not that important - for sure he will not get all the WRs from 1500m to the Marathon.
But Sifan Hassan on the (for sure little bit weaker) women's side clearly has shown that it is POSSIBLE.

Your definition of "mastering" an event is useless if you're only a master if you're the fastest in human history, and not second or third fastest.

Yes it is. Paavo Nurmi set WRs in all events ranging from 1500m to 20000m. He has shown that it is possible.

This is not the 1920's. It is nearly a century later with professionals in every event.
They both mean the same. Stop splitting hairs. JI isn’t getting every WR from 1500 to marathon before I castrate myself.

I don’t think he is saying he has any problem whatsoever with that, it’s rather that people are misconstruing that WRs and top 3 all time are just as good as one another for a comparison. But in reality it isn’t. JI will never be a Wr holder at both marathon and 2000m at the same time.

It’s widely regarded that to master an event you need to be its world record holder not just a lucky gold medallist at the Olympics. Until Sifan runs the no.1 time of 2:08 or 4:09 at the same time, and lasts for at least 25 years like El G 1500m record, your theory is wrong.

Counterpoint: he seems to have pretensions about being an 800m runner, and so far we haven’t seen a whole lot. I wouldn’t say Jakob has pretense when he has won his 5ks and XC races. Seems like he went over his skis once.
As for Kerr in the 8K time trial, Mackey indicates the early pace is 4:30 and we seem to hear a 2:13 800m split in there. Conner Mantz of course just ran 4:31 pace in Houston, so we might want to dial back some expectations. I’m sure he’ll close in 2:01-2:05 or something but it might be 27:10 pace or worse overall.
