The women’s American masters record is 2:26:06 - Sara Hall 2024 Olympic Trials. Sara went through halfway in 1:11:39, roughly 3 minutes under American record pace.

So we are now getting mile by mile split for Kebede, starting at mile 7. Every mile has been between 4:54 and 4:59.

I'd be somewhat less salty about the wheelchair coverage if the race was always as competitive as the men's finish was

Yes and no.

The cruising along part of wheelchair racing is not so exciting.

The final miles, that are raced more like a bicycle race, aren't so bad.

They did the same thing with the Vikings in London on twin cities marathon weekend. Not the same scale as Chicago but still creates a concoct for runners and spectators.
