Finally -- Clarity in Women's 5k for US Olympic Trials

Not only that, but she’s running 25-40 miles per week, with weekly long runs of 13 miles, according the Runners World article that was posted here this morning. Some make it sound like she almost exclusively trains on the arc trainer, when they most likely know better.

Well she is the fastest college runner in history.

And she will be in the USA team

Look at all of the touhyites that suddenly came out of the woodwork when someone let it slip on another thread that Tuohy is in actually in shape!

Why wouldn’t Tuohy be in shape?? Her coach said she was in the best shape of her life six months ago!

She then disappears to train, and we learn, through ‘various channels’ (mostly on this message board) that she has some type of ‘hamstring injury’? Except we never get official clarification from her or her coach on what exactly is the nature of the injury? Think about it, here is one of the biggest touted collegiates to turn pro, and yet little is said about the ‘injury’ she picks up soon after turning pro, and which apparently is the reason she isn’t racing; no interviews or articles with some deeper (credible) info on the injury are forthcoming.

So several weeks ago, Tuohy shows up at an Adidas event, questions are asked about her training, and she explains her weekly training without any mention of her injury. Was there not a peep from this board how strange that is? Yet, crickets.

At this point, the ‘injury story ‘ seems more a convenient excuse, because we have seen social media posts here and there going back several weeks where she has been filmed training, on a track!

Just look at the number of downvotes on the post to this thread that said Tuohy recently ripped a fast time trial! Does someone want that info buried? Could it be because her cover was blown, that she wanted to fly under the radar coming into the Trials?

On top of all of this, Tuohy gets selected to be in the second heat, which is obviously a huge advantage, and yet we have various parties here arguing it is not an advantage! Why would someone be so adamant and get upset and argue the point in the first place? Could it have something to do with it of running counter to a ruse being painted that Tuohy is the big underdog coming into this, that somehow her even making the final will be some ‘dreams to reality’ miracle experience??

Don’t know if I can trust any article discussing Valby’s training. There is also report saying she hasn’t got a sip of water since last June. Good luck as long it works for her.

like I said....but it got fast Tuohy was 4:35 for last 4 laps and got left in the dust - but qualified

Final will be a 15:50 race.

I was shocked at how slow that was.

I think the runners who need the standard looked at the weather and saw that monday was 10-12 degrees cooler and 45 min later in the evening so decided that it was a safer bet to make it fast on Monday. seems logical.

well there was noone who would grab the lead like Valby in heat 1. We see this all the time. But I would have thought someone would have made a real move a little earlier

That was so slow, she may no longer be eligible to make the team based on world ranking, even if she finished top 3.

Not a strong contender. She looked flat, and was struggling to make it to the finish line. She’s lucky she came in 5th. No kick, no stamina.
