If Brett and Sinead are injured they'll keep it quiet, start the marathon and pull out. If I remember correctly a similar thing happened with Jack Rayner at Tokyo.
Any injuries (if severe enough) will be kept quiet because an "Olympian" has more bargaining power in sponsorship negotiations.
Your arguments seem logical, however:
1. Jack wasn't taking anyone's spot in Tokyo, as no other Australian had qualified.
2. Both Brett and Sinead are already Olympians.
1. No one is saying Jack took someone else's spot. We're saying it was a DNF following a stressy that was kept quiet. And everyone on the inside would have known he wasn't competitive. This time it's different because Andy is a qualified sub, fitter than Brett.
2. Noone is arguing this point either. Brett's ridiculous antics here are so he can run in the Olympics again. He'll get sponsorship bonuses $, call himself a three time Olympian etc. There's money to be had if you're on Team Brett.
I listened to FTK t yesterday - think it was recorded a few days ago (my patreon money goes to IRP and has since the start).
Take aways: 1. Brett is not giving up his spot. He is not running, but seems to be fit from cycling. Objectively, Andy can probably run a better marathon than Brett right now but can you imagine voluntarily giving up your spot if you're Brett? He would never do that if there is a chance he can run.
2. Sinead is at the pre-camp in Montpellier and in training. Maybe her quitting the FTK podcast is her realisation that being on it costs a lot of mental energy. She could have said that and it would take all the speculation out. I love listening to Sinead on podcasts. She is funny!
(The road to nowhere with Ellie, JTW and the twin was class!)
Surely the prospective runners should need to prove fitness before getting on the plane? What a waste of time and taxpayer money otherwise. What, he's just going to run 20k or 2:25? (again)As I s aid quite awhile ago, Robinson DNF. Adams will be the first Australian to finish (again).

Interesting on the most recent FTK that Brett mentioned having 7 hours a day of screen time. Yet he isn't posting on Instagram or Strava (nor is Sinead).
He also went to great lengths to avoid using the word "running" when discussing how much work, training etc. he was doing. This suggests he's probably cross-training like crazy, and hoping that will somehow translate into success on the most difficult/hilliest marathon at a champs in recent memory.
So funny that Brett has spent years pretending to be transparent about his training but suddenly he's injured in the lead up to the olympics he doesn't want to be transparent. Sh1t form. Also if Sinead is injured the best thing she can do is step aside right now and let Lisa get on a plane.
