I will point again to the link to the Court Order of February 15, 2024, specifically the pages I referred to. I will dispute that you ever read it. The judge in the case specifically told Trump's lawyers and YOU and everyone on earth with an internet connection what the "second crime" is. If you are dyslexic, that's your handicap, not anyone else's.
My point is that there is no explanation. I can point to an advanced Mathematics book, claim to understand it perfectly, and tell the listener to go read it. I can't be bothered to explain it.
To understand -- Donnie did the crime of falsifying business records with the INTENT to thereby get away with another crime. Illegally influencing the election. And/or cheating on his taxes. The People didn't need to prove that Donald Jessica Trump committed the second crime, only that he committed the first crime to try to get away with a second crime. The jury didn't believe that Don did it the hide it from Melaria. No no they saw through that nonsense.
Many legal experts have been pounding the table that for Trump, less is more! Don't confuse and put the jury to sleep. Blanche and Trump did that. 7 hour cross of Cohen?
I would guess if you surveyed the jurors today they would probably reveal that they have no idea what Trump's defense was. Because it was lost in the weeds.
To be fair he really had no defense
This is correct.
Much will be made of the testimony because it is exciting, and cross examination makes for a lot of fireworks, but he was going to be convicted on most of the charges based on Exhibit 35 alone.
This was a paper case.
When you handwrite the details of the crime you are committing (with two conspirators both writing on the paper in their own handwriting) and the prosecution gets ahold of the paper, you are toast.

Exactly. Right wingers are trying to spin this as a novel legal thing. Something unique that is singling out Trump. It is not.
A guy can get busted for burglary. But the charge becomes worse if that burglary is proven to be with the goal of committing murder.
A guy can be busted for trespassing. But that charge becomes worse if it is learned he is trespassing to commit sexual assault.
Trump got busted for falsifying business records. It got worse because the purpose was proven to be to conceal another crime. Very simple!
It's shameful that right wing legal spinsters are trying to work up the base with this bunk. They know better.
One done and three to go. No matter the subsequent finagling and spinning the marks are indelible, and he will be too embroigled in courts and legal stuff to act as a viablecandidate or Comander-in-Chief. You cant scrape the burnt part off the "toast" an expect it to be ok. Its done and then some!

Next up: Sentencing. Glenn Kirschner put out a good opinion vid yesterday saying that Trump should absolutely get prison time (and not home confinement). It's in the interest of the country that we demonstrate that candidates for office face real consequences for sh1t like this. Home confinement is nothing. Cohen did time at Rikers already. Don the Con needs to be locked up at Rikers. LOCK HIM UP
Hmmm...Trump convicted on all 34 counts with very strong evidence against him. Meanwhile, Nikki Haley visits Israel in a very strong show of support for an ally. Coincidence? Keeping herself in the public eye and looking presidential in case a new nominee must be chosen at the convention?
Despite their public bluster, the RNC is pretty spooked right now. I would even argue that they could assure themselves a White House victory by dumping the felon and getting behind Haley as the first woman POTUS.

It is impossible to gauge the damage that Trump did with his election interference. We can't measure it. But this scheme was designed to hide from the American People, information that they could take into the voting booth to decide who should be president. Because Trump lost the popular vote but narrowly won the swing states needed an argument can be made that this contributed to Trump gaining office. And think of the damage that Trump has done to this country since he took office. Think of disdain he has caused people to have for respected institutions like the FBI, Federal Elections, Our Judicial System, Our Press, Our congress, The office of the President, The thousands of people with criminal records because they headed his call to march the capitol based on lies.
Don't like right wingers gaslight you that this was another victimless crime.

I don't know how that works though. Trump has taken over the RNC and installed his family. How would they possibly give him the boot?

unlike the election interference from the 2020 computer coverup up of course - perhaps not a crime but coverups in elections are nothing novel
If a floor fight ensues at the convention, they may have no choice. Convention delegates are not your garden variety angry Trump rally attendee. They are a bit more sober and realistic about how politics works. If they see this dragging down their Senate chances and flipping the House blue, many Trump delegates will flip. They don't want Biden and the Democrats to have both houses and the White House.
I can only hope your rights are violated in such a manner.
If I got one tenth the leniency that Trump has enjoyed from the justice dept and the Media, I'd love to have my rights "violated in such a manner".
The guy committed financial fraud for decades and got let off for it. Three out of his four trials have been effectively cancelled. The only thing they're actually trying him for is the case they know won't yield jail time or any real consequences. The guilty verdict is gratifying to people that hate him, but at the end of the day the DOJ has still let him walk for his crimes.
Meanwhile he has his little arrangement with the mainstream media that they'll criticize his character and rhetoric 24/7, while making sure to never call him out on his incompetence and rampant policy failures, or for his lies about what he achieved in office.
So with all due respect, the notion that Trump's "rights are violated" because someone sort of half stood up to him one time out of a thousand, is complete BS. The guy gets let off for everything important, and is literally above the law.
