Actually Trump does exactly the same thing. He puts the cheesy background music on and starts with the doom and gloom and the fake emoting. It's all in the playbook.
You are such an F ing drama queen. I have a picture in my mind of what you look like and it's of those fat ugly women that were crying their eyes out when Trump won in 2016. He sure has a knack for getting you all worked up and I absolutely love it. Not surprisingly, you got wrong what he said. "Only" on day one and not after that, and it would be to close the border and drill, which is dumb anyway because that is not what constitutes being a dictator anyway. You triggered snowflakes hear that though, poop your pants, and conflate that into proof that he will actually be a real dictator. You honestly believe in your heart of hearts that if he becomes president again he is not going to relinquish power at the end of his term? Do you even know what is required to be a dictator, and how many institutions one has be in control of to do so? You have to control the entire military structure, the national media which he clearly doesn't control, the judicial system which again he obviously doesn't control, the state and city leaders across the country which he doesn't control, just to begin to set up your authoritarian dictatorship. And again, if somehow he does become a dictator in the truest sense of the term, I will be right there beside you and your poop filed pants calling for him to be removed. You are simply just being over dramatic, because your hatred of Trump is your religion.
So you think it's okay for a president to decide when he wants to be a dictator. Well he said it will only be a dictator for one day right, is that why you think it's ok??
You are not much of a constitutional scholar are you?
(And what if when he is a dictator for that day, the dictator thinks, well I need to be a dictator for longer, maybe one month? That's okay too? But based of Trump's history, you have complete trust in him, right)
God help our country!
Like noYankee said, his comment was made in jest, and if you don't realize that you are either eight years old or blinded by hatred. I already said it won't be ok with me if he becomes a dictator in the truest sense of the word. Do you F ing read? Also, I can't seem to get you to answer my question if you honestly believe Trump won't give up power at the end of his term. With all due respect, your posts seem tremendously infintile so maybe you are in middle school.

Hmm. What could possibly make someone think Trump would not fully support giving up his term?
Great question. Let me think about that one a bit. Ok. I think I found a couple of clues:
in 2020 did stuff like this:
Trump tried to stop the peaceful transfer of power and deny the voting rights of millions of voters. He devised an elaborate scheme to replace legitimate electors with fake electors. He tried to get DOJ to publicly announce they were investigating massive election fraud when they found none. When DOJ said no, he wanted to fire Bill Barr and install a liar that would say they would He drafted plans to seize voting machines. He pushed for Mike Pence to reject his Constitutional duty to certify electors and incited a mob that called for his execution. He called elected officials across the country and urged them to "find votes." And after all of this, he incited a mob of his supporters to stop the ceremonial proceedings of Congress to name the duly elected winner of the vote.

There is a colossal logical failure in your assessment. All of these things you list are related to contesting results of an election. Do true dictators even bother with election results, let alone have them at all? If he is a dictator as you claim he is, there would have been no election, or he would have been able to control the election to the point where the results would not have been close. So you are saying historical dictators let elections happen, and then once they lose they end up relenquishing power at the end of their term? Come on man.

If he wouldn't give up power when he lost the last election why would he give it up at the end of his next term (if gets in)?

He didn't contest the election results; he refused to accept them and tried to overturn them through force. One of the things dictators do is refuse to accept the result of a democratic election if they lose. He was found by the House and two state courts to have been an insurrectionist and the SCOTUS has not contested or overturned those findings. So he remains an adjudicated traitor.

He did give up power. If he hadn't he would still be president.

Only because he was not able to convince military leadership to support his failed attempts to stay in office. If elected again - on day one he will begin put people into defense leadership positions that will support him illegally staying in office indefinitely. Putty playbook will be in play from the get go.....
Grifters gotta grift and the Oval office is the best place to grift from.
My 97 year old Dad & I watched it and the republican response and were quite surprised by how coherent and passionate the President seemed and how disrespectful and uncomfortable the little fellow sitting behind him was. I honestly thought the republican response was fake and not real. I don't get what the lady was on about for the most part, as it didn't seem as much a 'reaction' as it was a scripted piece (though I've never seen one of these reactions before). It was all very entertaining and I can only imagine what will happen. My Dad is convinced Trump will win again while I find it hard to imagine, but then I was really surprised in 2016 as well.

He didn't give up power. He had no choice. His insurrection failed. Power was taken from him by the validated results and the proper processes, which he tried to destroy. But we see he is arguing before the SCOTUS that notwithstanding any crimes he has committed he should be immune from prosecution. A President who is above the law - and especially the criminal law - is a would-be dictator. But you are too ******* thick and brainwashed to see that.

The "lady" lied. That has been proven by the "12 year old girl" she was talking about.

If he is a dictator like you keep claiming he would not have lost the election to begin with, and if for some reason he had, he would have ignored the results and maintained power. You proclaiming he "had no choice" completely diminishes the validity of your assertion of his dictatorial aspirations. Further, in order to cease the total absurdity and foolishness of your thinking, you are going to have to pick between Trump being a dictator or an insurectionst. Do dictators perform insurrections against themselves? You are truly a mental midget.

Dictators don't necessarily win, you moron. He claims to be above the law - as dictators will do - and he committed an insurrection against a legitimately elected government to try to retain power. He failed, like he always does. But why confine the argument to whether he's a dictator? He's a traitor, an insurrectionist, a fraudster, a rapist, a gross narcissist, a sociopath, a racial supremacist, a mental incompetent and a total creep (with a dick like a tiny mushroom - thanks for that, Stormy Daniels) who has brainwashed millions of "deplorables", like you. That's the guy you defend and justify who speaks for you. Ultimately, in this thread you are saying less about Trump and telling us more about who and what you are.

First to answer your question, I do not, nor do you have any idea what Trump would do at the end of his term. You and I would both have expected him to honor the legally expected peaceful transfer of power after his first term. Instead his behavior was disgraceful and illegal. If he broke laws trying to retain power after his first term why wouldn't he try it again?
I do get sick of all the Trumpers defending the dangerous things he says by saying, well he didn't really mean it. He is a fuucken former president and what he says is important!
Trump LOVES autocrats and dictators and has little respect for leaders of democracies such as those in NATO. So when he says he will to be a dictator for a day, I don't give him a pass and say that's just Trump being Trump.

Republicans think people are really dumb and will be moved and believe any crap they throw out. Her lies were beneath contempt.
Everything about the rebuttal was phony but it did reflect where the Republican party is right now

Stop being played by the conman.
There was a peaceful transfer of power. On the day Trump was supposed to leave office, he left under his own volition. You can say and pretend all you want that you don't know what he would do after the completion of a potential second term just so it fits your narrative, but you and I both know he will do just the same as he did after his first.

This x1000.
Trump envies the power of autocrats and dictators. He says this all the time. It's not just words, FFS.
And on top of it he doesn't give two sh*ts for any of his supporters. Biggest con in history. He only cares about himself and he will not hesitate to ruin this country for his own benefit.

From Google's English dictionary:
Dictator: a ruler with total power over a country, usually obtained through force.
Insurrection: a violent uprising against an authority or government.
Using either one of these definitions on their own to describe Trump is completely inaccurate. Using both to describe him is absolutely insane. People who have total power do not violently uprise against themselves.
