But he's in 4th. If one guy has a problem, he can still be on the podium. Can't drop out until he gets passed, I think.
I will be pretty shocked if these guys don’t start to really slow down soon. All of them. That pacing for the first half was a terrible idea. None of these guys is a sub 2:01 marathoner. This could get messy at 35K.
100% this, having said that this overly ambitious pacing does make for an interesting race!
My respect for Kipchoge would increase if still finished and didn't end up in the top 20. That could light a fire for the Olympics!

I love watching him race… but the marathon always wins. (And Father Time for that matter). I still can’t believe that first half pace. None of these guys is Kiptum. They should’ve asked for a 62 min first half.

I don't know why people were thinking he would drop out. That is not like him. I think he has said in some interview that he would never drop out of a race if he can just finish no matter what position.
