Police say banned New Zealand Olympic runner Zane Robertson has been arrested at his home in Kenya over allegations of sexual assault and possession of an unlicensed AK-47 assault rifle.
I know people who were in the court. The only charges relate to the firearm and ammunition.
Going by this, there are no rape charges. That in itself is a relief for Zane, because he'll avoid the stigma of that accusation behind bars, should he ever serve time (unlikely I think).
As to the gun possession without licence, that needs to be looked into as well.
The fact that he's out on bail, and could, in theory, escape Kenya, signals to me that the anticipated charges will not be too heavy.
Escaping the country, while unlawful, might be something to consider, lest the legal procedures take weeks/months/years, without rhyme or reason, as is often the case in developing nations.
If my assessment of the situation is erroneous, I stand corrected.
Also Ghost weren’t you the dude trying to get convicted drug cheat, John Ngugi a coaching gig in the US, a man with zero coaching credentials and no education.
Are you the patron saint of Kenyan lost causes?
That's correct. I was "friends" with Ngugi on Messenger, and he was desperate for a coaching gig in the USA. On trying to get more info re his coaching experience, Ngugi refused to divulge any information about his runners. It was a strange going back and forth over several weeks, until I gave up because he was extremely secretive bordering on paranoid.
By the way he was not a convicted drug cheat, as you put it, but simply refused to comply with IAAF tester, John Whetton, a former British 1500 star.
It is sad that you label him a convicted drug cheat, when no evidence of that was ever uncovered. It would be like labelling Farah in a negative light for also refusing to answer his doorbell 😔
Also the poster claiming to have been at the trial posted no official link or explanation of how and why he was at Robertson’s trial. Why do you believe him with blind faith when all the media reports refute what the poster wrote?
What do you mean he refused an “invasive” test? Why are you so biased? He refused to be drug tested, something he had so many times before. He got banned for 4 years for clearly hiding his drug use.
