Dbq Senior should be in the mix. I'd pick them over Hempstead based on returning varsity runners. Since I think Hempstead lost 3, 5, 6, 7 to graduation they will need some incoming studs or some JV runners who step it up; their #5 last year was their MVP in my mind as she made huge strides from junior to senior year and she made the Mustangs unbeatable in 2022. Hempstead will have a second Leitzen and a second Henneberry this year and if they run like their sisters... they could be really good. That Senior pack will be tough, and if they all can improve just a bit over last year or a few have breakout seasons they could push Johnston. Johnston still has to be considered the favorite, though.
So the Dowling girls team is ranked 10th right now.

Locations were named today. Western 4A schools have a 3 hour drive. It is absolutely ridiculous.

Marshalltown and Pleasant Valley like clockwork every year. Wonder how many schools put in for hosting Districts in Eastern / Western Iowa. Has Sioux City hosted a 4A recently?

The process could be fixed by having the number of qualifying teams match the number ranked top 15 in the district rather than logistically shuffling teams to have 3 ranked top 15.

Sioux City varsity boys team won. Kifle won by a lot. Kind of a big 4-5 gap for the team though. Junior Connor Schultz was one of their scorers but it appears that they are missing junior Kiefer Schultz, who ran a 4:55 1600 last spring and 18:07 5k last fall. Are Connor and Kiefer related?
