I was at the meet. Katelyn was definitely working in the 1500. I agree it looked like she lacked her normal fire. With that said though, 4:08 is a great lead off in her outdoor season. In the 5000, she did not get smoked - she clearly was not running hard. She was smiling pretty much the whole time. It looked like she was pacing some teammates at first but then gradually moved up and passed a bunch of others. I think it shows a lot that she is probably the most watched runner in the NCAA right now, but she just does her thing and doesn't care what people will think if her result shows a slower time. Great teammate and a class act.

There’s always a lot of gushing over Tuohy for doing the same things as many others have done.
Why would ACCNX stop covering the meet prior to the 5K/10k races and declaring that those races are ‘too long’ to cover and therefore ‘uninteresting’? How unprofessional! They had no compelling content to justify this premature ending. In fact they had nothing. Meanwhile some of us missed what could have been a very entertaining 5K race. Why do we pay for this? They couldn’t even be bothered to pronounce Tuohy’s name correctly!

Why you ask? Because the ACC Network is basically a hot mess when it comes to most conference sports.

Maybe ACCNX decided they had heard more than enough nonsense from the on-air talent as well? I’ll never curse Dwight Stone again … nevermind, yes I will.
I was expecting around 4:02-4:03. Seems like that was the concensus. That makes her performance a major disappointment for most of us fans.
Maybe look at this race as a solid effort that highlighted a few areas to improve, somewhat like the 2021 BU 3000m season opener. Tuohy overextended herself in the opening 800 but still kept pace with Cranny's 4:09 from last week. This would have been a disappointing race for Heather Maclean or Sinclaire Johnson, but Tuohy’s rolling just fine.

I agree. It was clear that the announcer was not even into running at all. Would it have killed them to find someone with at least basic knowledge of the sport that could handle announcing the 5K and 10K.
Some thoughts on the 1500:
I don't think the Wake Forest meet was any kind of focus for Touhy. Based on the way all of the wolfpack ran (good but nothing earth shattering), my guess is that they probably trained hard all week and were using this meet to experiment or take risks with technique. Touhy went out hard the first lap. Koko held back the first lap and was overall better for it. This was the first time I have seen Touhy not in control of the race for a long while. She was working to try to keep up with the pacer and didn't seem to "settle in" until the pacer dropped. I think they might have been working on going out hard the first lap and seeing how well she could hang on. Henes has said (and we have witnessed) that Touhy learns quick and usually aces things the second time around. What better opportunity to have a first go than a minor meet like this. I really believe that the main focus for her is the big meet in May and then the US Championships. I don't even know if NCAA's is a primary concern for her anymore. She is using these opportunities to tweak her racing technique, and last night probably gave her valuable information even if it didn't go as planned. That, or she just might not have been feeling it. Who knows, but I certainly don't think one not perfect (you can't call 4:08 a bad race) race means that she has lost anything.
This proves that Henes is an awful coach. She’ll eventually get injured just like all of the NC State runners eventually do because Henes overworks them and doesn’t know what she’s doing.
Well after a relatively quiet start to outdoor 5000U is actually off to a pretty good start.

I don't really agree with it not being a focus, it was paced for 4:02/4:03 which would gave been a big PR.
But you might be right about the workouts. Both Bush and Chmiel had big positive splits on their final laps and ran out of gas so maybe the team was tired.
