Unfortunately Rojo didn't have time to dig into an actual news story about running because he was too busy posting about:
- A guy who had a fight with his wife about a Letsrun shirt.
- The soccer world cup teams in the final should refuse to do penalty kicks.
- US runners losing their "pro cards" for not running cross country.
- Sam Bankman-Fried's bail.
Rojo - what an amazing journalist!
An yet you're here enough to be current on rojo's writings.
Congrats to the Stride Report for breaking the news.
On our podcast which came out,Tuesday night Rojo did text a source close to the program who said it apparently was happening but wasn't finalized. We had that on the podcast but didn't look into anything more than that.
My thinking is this news would come out one way or the other very quickly within it being done.
That posters here begged letsrun's supposed journalists to confirm or deny this story for days, and then the Stride Report finally does it, speaks volumes about this site.
Fine to let rumors spread on the message board, but no actual effort whatsoever to verify or falsify them. Get to work, Brogaults!

It's the XMAS holidays. I haven't been on the boards much this week as my son has been out of school and I've been taking care of him but when we were recording the podcast, we started talking about this topic. I texted omeone very close ot the BTC and two minutes later they said that's what they were hearing but it wasn't 100% yet.
I guess you should listen to the podcast. Yes, I could have posted it on the board but why? Does it really matter if you know now or in two days who is the 2nd distant assistant at Oregon?
Could I have done more here? Probably but why do I need to break every story? There is RW, TFN, local outlets, etc. I've always HATED sites like ESPN that only report on things they cover or write themselves which is absurd. If someone else has it, we'll link to them.
Do you know how much time it would have taken to break Hutnington? And then people would be outraged if I spend a month on it and then put it behidn the paywall. The reality is, I was speaking to the #1 "victim" of the whole saga and she was telling me she isn't a victim. I've spoken to the FBI about it repeatedly. Sometimes it's just best to not do it as I can't afford a massive lawsuit.

Rojo my man sometimes it is best to quit when you're behind. 3 or 4 posts explaining why you didn't have the story isn't a great look.

In the business, you do this so you don't get "scooped."
"The Stride Report has confirmed via multiple sources that Chris Solinsky, the current distance coach at the University of Florida, will become the next assistant distance coach for the Oregon Ducks."
Translated: "We were surfing LetsRun, and lots of people on the thread said Solinsky was going to Oregon. We don't have actual confirmation from Solinsky or Oregon." :-)
I feel that Chris is a traitor to Valby and the Florida program.
Yep so what. I feel the same way about Mary Cain, Lebron James, Michael Jordan, Dylan Jacobs, Teddy Mitchell, Bobby Fischer, Dwayne Wade, Kyrie Irving, John Frusciante, Marvin Gaye--who cares!!!!!!! If "feel" is all you have close your bedroom door cuz nobody cares!!!!!!!!!
Brojos, the front page says “The Stride Report has reported the news that Jerry Schumacher has officially accepted a job at Oregon.” Might want to fix that.
Your message board gives you a shot at breaking multiple stories first every month. It's just a question of whether you want to make the effort to do that, and accordingly be cited by multiple other media sites.
honest Q, is solinsky actually a good coach? Idk that he gets credit for valby. shes just a genetic outlier. would likely succeed anywhere if she can run 30 mpw and be a ncaa runner up.
Apparently without Solinsky's intervention, and creation of the cross training plan, Valby would have retired from the sport due a couple years of injury. That would have left those outlying genes with a FL hs title and lifetime prs of 2:15/4:50/10:10.
