I think he would be more in the range of 8:25y, maybe even faster. If he’s in 3:51 mile shape I would think he could run 2 4:10s.
7:45-7:55 shape for 3000.

I can see HK going that fast. 8:25y not out of the question. I think he would be a lock to take down the 8:29.4 HS mark.

most all of us, it is assumed are former runners.

some of us are also rans, some of us won at various levels, etc.

so we know something.

this guy Hobbs and his team, and been around elite coaches, systems etc (back in the day),

and i would say the following article is instructive, and perhaps the most instructive article i've seen ever. maybe exaggerating only a bit.

Several other factors at play. Webb (even being part of the big 3) paved the way for this wave of milers. When Webb broke Ryun’s record, he was the first HS boy to break 4 in 32-33 years. His performance was in a different stratosphere.

Now, we’ve been spoiled by having Centro win the Olympics despite being a 4:03 HS guy, we have HSers running sub 4 every year. We have dude running 3:59 that we forget about and expect nothing from.

We have multiple kids to spread about our expectations.

Hobbs could run 3:32 this year and he would still have less pressure than Webb.

With that said, Webb is even more of a nut now.
