Nice race under tough conditions, Orient!
After a good solid four months of injury-free training and racing between late December and late April, the wheels finally came off. The chronic insertional Achilles tendonosis that I acquired in July 2015 and had pretty much learned to manage reared its ugly head again. I made the mistake of not shutting down soon enough, and even though I've now stopped running it's taking a long time to recover to the point where I can run again. I took six days completely off (Thursday through Tuesday), tried to run on Wednesday but quit after 1 mile, and took another four days off (Thursday through today). I may try a short jog again tomorrow. I'm trying to compensate with biking and swimming, but since I've done so little biking for the past four months I can't jump back into it too hard. I did set a PR for swimming distance last week with 7500 yards. I know that competitive swimmer do much more than 7500 yards in a single day, but for me 7500 yards in a week is a lot.
I've cancelled plans to race next weekend but am still hoping I might be back in time for the Memorial Day race, which is only a 5K.
Cheers!
