I’m simply wondering out loud why you’re suggesting anyone considers him a paragon of Christianity, while also pointing out that if Christianity is actually the lens and criterion you want to use (because you brought it up), then we could point to lots of morally compromised Biblical characters who eventually became disciples.

I don't believe that's the case. Trump is far from the worst of immoral men who served as POTUS.
However, he has the majority of the evangelical vote and he's pro-life. I believe he has Franklin Graham more or less as an informal spritual advisor.
Two examples:
JFK & LBJ were bedding women left & right while serving in office. There have been books written about this. LBJ slept with most of his WH receptionists, plus he was a raging alcoholic. JFK on inauguration night, had ladies provided to him by Frank Sinatra and "Rat Pack" brother-in-law, Peter Lawford.
