menlo could be an interesting team to watch in division 5. If they got a transfer and stay healthy, they could be a contender for a top 5 california team.
landon pretre - 8:53 (11) William Hauser - 9:20 (11) Henry Hauser - 9:48 (9) Jared Saal - 15:07 (3.06 mile course) Jonah Block - 4:45 (9)
No idea. A lot of people in that race fell down, but I have no idea if Pretre did or not. Or maybe the conditions got the best of him like it did for other California runners
Chiara may have mentioned to some people that she was DQ'd. Is that true? She had complained about being sick before the race and was clearly struggling immediately during the race, so most had assumed that she had to step off the course. She passed on NXN to run FL in front of her family. Such a shame that such a great runner wasn't at her best for a National race in her hometown. Hope she's doing better today.
Also, I'm surprised that the West Boys beat anyone, and not surprised the girls were last, considering that the top girls were at NXN and couldn't do Footlocker.
No Cali kids can double up on NXN and Footlocker since Footlocker qualifier is the same day as NXN, so the West teams were very weak.
This is just another proof that the Cali schedule is so flawed. We saw NXN Qualifiers Sadie Engelhart and Braelyn Combe just spectating at Footlocker, supporting their friends who were running. When they saw that amazing San Diego weather compared to the slop they saw in Oregon the week before, I'd bet they both wish they could have also raced Footlocker (along with other California stars like Rylee Blade and Holly Barker) if they were given some kind of at-large invite. Evan Noonan, Eyan Turk, etc. would maybe do the same.
Footlocker and NXN are only mutually exclusive for Californians, forcing them to decide on one or the other. Kids from other states ran both. Something needs to change if Footlocker wants to be considered a real National Championship.
Trabuco Hills and Mira Costa boys teams were top 10 in the merge both in 2023 and 2024. Great Oak would have also been in that conversation had there been no disqualification.
Top 4 girls in 2024 were the same as in 2023 although in a different order
Damn everyone slept on small school and underestimated them… people really need to get their bias out and really pay attention. Everyone got their man crushes show all throughout the threads.
As much as I hate to say it, I think Broen Holman should have been snubbed over Aydon Stefanopoulos. While they ran basically the same time at states, Aydon actually qualified for footlocker nationals whereas Broen wasn’t ever in contention at regionals.

only 1 runner in the top 20 and 4 runners in the top 50 in the nation
I don't put much stock into these rankings, this year's results at NXN had a much lower correlation than usual when it came to how the top expected contenders actually placed.
