Anyone with inside info on the Bester/Fox falling out? Where does the truth lie? They tell completely different stories about what happened. Is there truth somewhere in the middle?
I was told recently that Sweat Elite was bought with Matt to continue running it but the channel has completely plummeted, probably no surprise with MF being ostracised by many people because of his CV of behaviour.
Bester - who is a complete loon but striking whilst the iron is hot right now has made significant money the past few years. Money that would if was made public knowledge would not be welcomed by the majority of the running community. You’re looking at upwards of £250k annually if not more, easily.
MF is unhinged, monthly marathon sub 2:20 attempts, his podcast has turned into a bitchfest about either individuals, events or organisations that have swerved him and now it’s a grocery list of what he’s taking to improve as a runner, the latest being Ozempic. It’s absolutely hilarious but concerning, the fall off of both of them is inevitable but I fear MF’s will be more of a car crash than Bester. It’ll be a go out in a ball of flames type scenario.
Watching/listening to Matt Fox rants is entertaining in the same vein as the spectacle that was Kanye’s most recent Twitter rants.
The Ozempic stuff is concerning. It was always my understanding that Ozempic was intended for morbidly obese people or type 2 diabetics and via prescription only in the US.
If his doctor prescribed him (a healthy marathon runner who as far as it sounds has lost some weight already going into 2025) Ozempic, what else might they be willing to prescribe??
He confuses me a bit, I just looked at his Strava (wasn’t really sure who he was). He runs 100+ mile weeks and has only run a 2:55 marathon? What am I missing? That’s a ton of time on feet for what?

He ran a negative split 2:39:00 at Chicago. He likes to run high mileage in Max Stack shoes.
Phily Bowden is celebrating being accepted into the London Elite Field.
Allie Ostrander defeated Phily Bowden by about a minute in her debut half marathon and is celebrating her top five finish and 71 minute half debut.
Spencer Brown AKA the Local Legend AKA The Athlete Special is celebrating the return of the Athlete Special and a top ten finish at the Mesa Half Marathon.
And that's all the time we have for running YouTubers today! I'm looking forward to see how they do in their Spring Marathons.
Spence is looking for a coach...and much like a Marvel Easter egg, there is a back of the head shot of Philly B at the end of his clip. Is he "loving the grind"?
Phily coaching Spencer would be a hilarious collab. But I doubt it will happen.
It's time to catch up with our favorite Running YouTubers!
Kofuzi is on Cloud 9, reviewing an On shoe and taking a trip to go trail running in Africa (so much for the I'm staying home this year resolution). He's also publicly pining for a Sydney bib and saying he's in discussions/negotiations with Sport Tours about it. I guess that kind of sponsorship does make sense. If five people with the cash watch his video and decide to drop $15k to run Sydney with them, it probably covers his comped travel and appearance fee.

The Greatest of All Time, Still the Original Running Shoetuber is documenting his training for the Jersey City Half Marathon in a new shed in his back yard. And running in cold weather.
Matt Fox is trashing Nick Bester. Nick Bester says his account got hacked. That's so much drama it should have its own thread.
Ben is Running is doing hill sprints and liking the new Adidas shoe (Evo SL)
Ben Parkes is trashing the new Nike shoe (Pegasus Premium) because it's so heavy. Lots of YouTubers don't like that shoe. But apparently they're all too young to remember the late 90s and give it the proper review which is: 1997 called, it wants its top running shoe back.
Some new dude named Yowana is rambling on for over an hour about the Nike shoe and hawking some app that he presumably has some relationship with. I don't really get that guy's videos and I can't watch more than a minute or two of them at a time, but he gets lots of views. I don't think he's that big of a fan of the Nike shoe either.
The Believe in the Run crew is rehashing their trip to Miami, which warmed them up from a cold Baltimore winter, talking with Hoka product designers (Hoka paid for their trip to Miami it seems), and eating cordiceps Mushrooms.
And in positive news, the views and likes and comments on Matt Choi's Instagram posts have crashed since his New York City Marathon stunt.
And that's all the time we have for running YouTubers today! I'm looking forward to see how they do in their Spring Marathons.
Would you mind elaborating on the Choi views and likes drop off? Having been impacted (marginally, but still annoying) by his two Houston bike stunts, I make a concerted effort to avoid his stuff since doing so would give him a boost.
His individual posts around the New York Marathon had between 20,000 and 40,000 likes; his training posts before it were generally between 8,000 and 10,000 likes. His last 10 posts averaged 2,800 likes. He's taken to Hyrox racing and his best Hyrox reel has 10,000 views (and it's a collab). Sponsors pay for engagement. So it's a definite impact to his bottom line. For the record, I don't think Kofuzi with his selfie sticks is much better. In some ways that can be worse than a bike, especially in large packs.
Absolutely….doesn’t even have enough integrity to actually learn HOW to run before bombarding YouTube with his stoopid, clueless running content. Your 5k pace is 7mpm? Start a channel and review racing flats!
And like clockwork, Believe in the Run posts about the new Hoka shoe. But this time they actually did disclose that they were comped for travel by Hoka on their Miami trip. It seems that this thread is having an impact.

Since it seems no-one's capable of making it to the end of Yowana's Pegasus Premium video, here's the AI conclusion (at least it's useful for something.)
After a 12-mile run, Yowana enthusiastically declares the Nike Pegasus Premium a "banger," praising its fun, bouncy ride and overall enjoyable experience. He suggests the shoe has a "special quality" that reignited his love for running shoes, setting it apart from many recent mediocre options.

... Interesting.
In his next video Yowana visits the Nike offices in Oregon before flying to Boston Marathon to spend time in the Nike VIP tent before running the marathon wearin head to toe Nuke apparel
But which federation? Is he even licenced as a coach with any federation?
I'm sure Bester is qualified in UK as he's done a bunch of coaching things for corporate and not for profit/community teams and they'd all insist that he had a coaching or running leader qualification. It's very basic, just a few hours and a couple of hundred GBP tax deductible.

I think you are konfuzing Yowana with Kofuzi. Yowana took part in a Runners Warehouse event last year, but I think that's it.
maybe he's a trustfundafarian. except without the dreads. I dont know how it all works but I doubt they make much from their YouTubes. theres this whole class of people who have so much money that they need to give it away so they put it in an account for their children (or grandchildren) and then when the child is older they get a certain amount each month and basically do whatever the f they want with it. a lot of time they use it for drugs and/or gambling. then there is usually a fight of some sort about it and the family stops talking to each other.
Ben Parkes went to private school, meaning his from a relatively affluent family. I agree and also assume he's living off of some sort of inheritance or trust fund.
How can someone who quit their job to run be doing less than your average hobby jogger? Dude is averaging 40km a week, what else does he have to do all day?! It boggles the mind.
These are quite some leaps of assumption. The vast majority of Brits who go to private school (7pc) don't have enough inherited wealth to not bother with a proper day job. You need a big stack of capital to generate that much income net of 45pc tax. My 2p worth is that nothing about parkes' demeanour or career pre YT notoriety suggests he has vast unearned wealth. Didn't he do a marketing degree at somewhere not very grand and then about a decade in marketing middle management?
Nice, I didn’t do enough research then. Seems like he’s a dad as well. I respect the hustle. As a dad of 4 running in the 2:3x marathon range myself I might actually enjoy his content more than I thought I would
He holds a Coach in Running Fitness qualification from England Athletics. While not the most advanced coaching certification, it does qualify him to lead runs and provides him with the necessary insurance to coach athletes. This is a higher level of qualification than many other coaches possess (Ben Parkes, Matt Rees etc).

This related to Phily’s coach, not Phily
Yep. Spenny confirms Jon Green as new coach. Good for him; I wish him well in his training and move to the roads.
