Harvard had a 53B$ endowment in 2024. 53B$. The median endowment per U.S. educational institution stood at $244.4 million in 2024. Tell me why we need to continue giving Harvard 2.2B$ every year when it is essentially a bank with a rich kid's school attached to it?
By the way, I've been to a school like this. Guess where the money goes? To each department where they buy something like a robot, pocket the rest and build new buildings and renovate, teach the robot some tricks for when the investors stop in, then it sits there on display for the next dog and pony show. There isn't any real research going on with all this money. These schools need to fund themselves if they want to be private. Most of the real research happens by a small percentage of driven professors in their off time.
