FAce it, the Good Old boy/girl system will always be in play, if they don't trust minority coached with lead football programs, you can forget about most track programs, and never will they allow minorities to lead the all precious XC teams.

Thanks Renee!Do we once again need to list all of the coaches that departed the program due to abuse by the head man? They did not leave for better jobs, but to get away from the hoarse's ass they were abused by on a daily basis

WSU filled already! Looks like they already had their man in place when they made the announcement about Julian.
Some guy named Tim Riley who was the volunteer for the past 3 years. Has a Phd. Was an NAIA dude. Oh well, the world moves on!
Theres the answer to my question about WSU. Guess they were just waiting for the paperwork to clear for The new coach, cause Julian knew he was leaving a long time ago.
This doesn't change the fact that martin smith still can COACH! The man build the Oklahoma program from nothing a few years back.
This isn't Renee or anyone on the current team. Just a fan of track and field that been following Smith since his arrival at OU.
Grow up man. If these coaches were abuses smith would have been fired already.

Martin plays by the rules, graduates his athletes and builds winning programs. He is brilliant, funny and crazy, and very few coaches are tough enough to work for him. I'm guessing you aren't one of them. Time to move on, brother.
Nice rant, but that was tough to read. Favorite line is "can't still don't". As for the situation at Campbell, Norbert was never going to stay there. Campbell made the mistake of hiring a coach who was used to having much, much more. Norbert was in need of a job and that job came open. I want to say he had a connection to the area but I may be wrong.Bottom line is it was a temporary stop to pay the bills in the meantime. Let's face it, going from Univ. of Tennessee to Campbell is like going from First Class to Coach Class and sitting in the back row by the bathroom. Once you've experienced First Class, Coach Class absolutely sucks and you can't wait for the next opportunity to get back to First Class. I'll bet he hadn't even purchased a home yet. He was too good of a coach to not get some interest when the next round of coaching changes came around. As for their hire yesterday, they probably realized that they couldn't make the same mistake twice. They hired someone who they think is doing a good job and will likely stick around for a few years to get something going again. They were not going to attract a big name again anyway. They have a new track but limited resources and not much recruiting appeal. It's in Buies Creek...enough said. Unfortunately, the coaching profession, especially in track and cross country, is much like the real world. It is just as much about who you know as it is about what you know and what you have done. There are plenty of coaches out here, myself included, that have the same credentials, certifications, experience, and coaching successes as many of these recent hires. Our resumes probably are as strong as many of these guys/gals that are getting these jobs, but they knew somebody that knew somebody and they got their name in front of the right person.
Yea your right...unfortuantly...
Gtown women's xc/distance position? news?

And they are?...
The Assistant is interim head until next summer
Oklahoma's Big 12 Championship in the sport of Track and Field (2007) was simply won by four coaches:1. Jeff Perkins2. Dana Boone3. Jeremy Fischer4. Mark NapierAll four coaches are gone. They could not leave Norman fast enough because of the way they were treated. Oklahoma will never win another Big 12 Conference Track and Field Championship unless 4-5 other schools depart the conference. Perhaps J.D. Martin needs to return to OU to take over.Dave Smith and OSU will continue to rule the sport of cross country so don't thinkyou will ever win a Big 12 Conference Championship in the sport of cross country.

Lastest rumor on Ohio State Girls cross country position - Khadevis Robinson from UNLV.
WSU: I'm pretty sure Riley is just interim.
Excited to see what KD can do at Ohio State. Good Luck to him.
