I agree. Actor is about as stable an income as FT runner albeit less objectively assessed.
I think she was actually on the civil service fast track so she did give up a proper career structure tho who knows how she'd have tolerated the hierarchy and need to work highly collaboratively
. The poster who dismisses her chances of world or OG qualifying seems misjudged. Maybe she won't but the level she's at she clearly has it in her sights.
Hopefully you found a man who is making you happy. I find that most men who talk about women like this should actually just admit they are gay and would enjoy a relationship with a man instead. This is okay.
Really?
"You are gay LOLOL"
as an insult in 2025? Do better and wear your love the grind T shirt to your 28 minute Parkrun
It's not an insult. Just saying you might be happier if you had a relationship with a man because women seem to make you so angry. It's a valid option is all I'm saying.

Just here to say I've completely gone off running YouTubers/shoetubers in recent months.
HOWEVER... Ran To Japan is absolutely EPIC content. Interesting, engaging, and someone truly pushing their limits in a genuinely fascinating country where I had next to no idea how things worked.
If you haven't watched any of his content - do so. Forget the others.
Has Bester actually been selected for England or has just done something like run a time which means he can declare his interest in being selected? His YT thumbnail is ambiguous and all the comments are congratulating him on his England selection.
I can't tolerate watching his video to find out if he has actually been selected for England or if he is deliberately misleading the uninformed into thinking he has. So if any of you have more tolerance for him than I do please let me know...

I skipped through parts of his video, still none the wiser! would also like to know!
Perhaps he's got the time to do some over 35 international thing.
He had to finish top 3 to have the option of an England vest in the V35 age category - which he did do in a time of 69 flat. The cult will no doubt go berserk at this news.
Looking at Ben Parkes' recent training on Strava... He's two months out from London Mara and is running an average of 35-40km a week, with no running last week at all. Has the guy completely given up? Just phoning it in now with shoe reviews and merch?
I've no idea how some of these people are making a living at this game. Ben Parkes lives in an expensive part of London. Selling terrible training plans and small margins on his clothing can't be bringing him in much.
This guy is a different market but has close to 300,000 subscribers and gets more views than most running YouTubers and he is not making a great living
What I understand influencer is not the best job for normal people, you need have some serious needs to be in front of camera... And they also get lots money from sponsors and travel trip etc.
But then again nobody is forcing anyone to watch and losing ones mind over this.
And I have seen so many people fail in this business, trying so much and not enough people are watching.....

Subscriber count is not the primary metric that makes people money. It's how engaged these subscribers are.
For instance, this guy does woodwork and DIY - many people subscribe and watch because they have a passing interest. Plus, the products you need to do woodwork are heavily commoditised (e.g., a hammer is a hammer).
On the other hand, take Aubrey Runs (< 20k subs); people are probably invested in his journey. Off the back of this, brands will be able to get him to peddle their crap. I'd hazard a guess he's probably a better marketing tool than someone like Emile Cairess (very sad).
I feel these people exist due to the over-commercialisation of what should be one of the most simple sports in the world. People don't need the Runna App, Ketone IQ, SOAR running gear, BNP supplements, or special socks to run fast times! However, as long as there is a market, hustlers will swoop in and peddle s***t.

Not actually for England Athletics no, the standards are much higher than he runs. Recently the snr standards have been around 14:10, 29:20, 65:00 - and this is all just seen as developmental to help support athletes build towards UK Athletics standards.
But he will have done it for AG because as long as you do one of the qualifying races + declare your interest, it's pretty easy = for his AG (V35) the standards are only: 33:45 & 77:30-76:00 & 2:50-2:48
So yes, this is purely for content, not competition.
There was a errm Team England photo of all the vets before they raced for the nation in their national vests in 5 year age bands. Cast of hundreds. It was put on website about the time when 2.09 Englishman Johnny Mellor didn't get a Comm Games marathon selection. Not that the sport is losing it's way at all.
I remember thinking that those Masters rules were a bit lame / non-competitive. Given there are people running significantly quicker than that, seemed the bar was a bit low.
surely this goon has retired? cant keep recycling the same old tired content and trotting round marathons in 3 hours isnt going to get any viewers. is it time for him to hang it up and get a real job
Absolutely awesome. Would be amazing if he ran a sub 2.10 in Tokyo. Would be equivalent to Philly's time; however, minus all the drama, pacing, altitude training and "the race that changed everything" aftermath !
I've finally had to unfollow Philly. It's all the pulling silly faces, silly voices, and interspersing her clips with silly memes like she's soooo zany and crazy.
Why do you purport to be fun? You're clearly a highly strung, neurotic, whiney, self-obsessed girl it would be unbearable to be around for long.
I just feel sorry for her other half; now relegated to documenting someone else's dreams while his own, as an actor, fall be the wayside.
I can imagine her metering out her YouTube earnings to him, like a penniless child asking for pocket money.
He just looks like he's fallen into something he can't get out of as happens to so many men.
It's NEVER to late to make a break and put your happiness first. He surely can't find her physically attractive? so all that's left is that he feels accomplished in life.
Is her husband beta? Plus if he makes less than her, that would be emasculating.

It sounds like even if you're a pro and have talent at making vids, you're also at the whim of public wants and factors outside of your control. You could do your best and it still might not be enough.

In the military people who do courses and quals to make themselves seem cool and dangerous to the uninitiated are badge collectors, this feels like the running equivalent. Anyone who knows what's involved see it as a nothing achievement, given what's involved - but people who don't will assume it's some huge international call up. Also interested in his race calendar - he's got 3 A goal races and an A+ goal heading into London. Two 5ks, a half and a marathon - so pretty different disciplines and training required. A goal 5k and half are less than 2 weeks apart with another race in between, my brother in Christ I don't think you really understand scheduling and goal races
