because NXN is a comically small meet compared to other meets, with only 200 runners.
NXN has 22 teams + 10 (5 people individual runner teams) = 32. Very similar to woodbridge but those 32 teams are the fastest teams in the nation. It is a very large competitive meet unlike anything we see anywhere else. Very different than what menlo has experience with.
As of last year, only 200 people race in each NXN race
Really sad decision by the officials; glad to hear the runner is going to be able to put it behind him.
Sounds like they need to relook that rule and I'm happy that such petty behavior was so prominent back in the day. I recall a similar false start at the 1994 CA Div II State XC champs. The officials were pissed and admonished the runners involved (to include one of my teammates). No one believed it was an attempt to cheat, just a bad case of the nerves and eagerness to get racing.
Is Great Oak or other CA teams or individuals going to do RunningLane?
It's hard to tell because the names are so different. Right now I don't see any notable CA teams I recognize, but I only skimmed the list. I would expect Great Oak to be under Temecula XC if they signed up, but they aren't there right now.

Wondering if the RunningLane meet this Saturday will pull anyone away from FL West. Have read on this forum that some of those schools will be sending their JV squads.
Ayala will be going to runninglane. Hopefully they can give some competition to the Southwest teams there. I wonder if any othe good California teams will be going
Yeah Niwot will be sending their 7-senior JV team to RunningLane. Best JV team that ever existed

Just saw that the official GO page posted about it on IG and tagged CIF. Will anything be done? I know athletes on the team that make a strong case for the Coach who insisted the officials change their decision because there is a connection to his team. Seems really mean. Especially when other races were not DQd for the same reason AND the officials had already called it as a warning. Someone like that should reconsider working with kids, especially if it was a personal issue connected to his team.

Remember these speed ratings are just for fun and projections by tullyrunners. Rankings don't matter. Races matter. Nobody remembers rankings. Everyone remembers races.
For footlocker it's not a special meet just for California, it's like NXR. We get grouped with Utah and other local states and all race west regionals, a 5k, at Mt San Antonio College.
ningkaiyang, who do you think will win footlocker this year? Anyone from CA?

Do you really think Eli Fitchen-young is going to regress in NXN finishes this year? He literally is the 5th highest finishing returner from last year's NXN.
There are still some big time California class of 25 boys who haven’t announced their commitments yet including a few of the NXN individual qualifiers. Just keeping on the quiet until after NXN and Footlocker? Seems late.

Could be colleges aren't making offers or the runners aren't looking in the right places with the reduced offers. The new roster limit rules are pretty scary for the future of college XC and track

I'm willing to bet at least one top-20 california runner is gonna be going to a CC next year, when they would have gotten a partial scholarship to a mid-major a few years ago.

Worth noting that these rankings solely go off of times. For example Pretre's 14:38 is faster than Young's 14:51 (or was it 52?), but Young's time was more impressive than Pretre due to him soloing it and going out too hard.
Had he ran against Pretre and Turk (proper competition), I bet he would have gotten around 14:35 putting him in the top 10 of the rankings which seems accurate.
