The hire of Hayman to Mercer is puzzling to me. I'm certain he's a great guy, but his resume is pretty light on success coming from a very well supported program at Mercer. It's obvious Delaware isn't taking track seriously and they just wanted to bring in someone to babysit the team and not cause headaches.
They attracted Dezerea Bryant (world championship bronze medalist) and Darrell Hill (Olympian, 22.44 PR in shot put) as assistant coaches, which proves they could have found someone with more success to be head coaches.
