Coaching AND Event Management—$31k per year. Oh and they’d prefer you have a masters. insulting.
Yes, that did not get past me. 31k would be a bs salary just to run the equipment room for an athletics/PE dept… let alone coach and all that other crap.
Matt Kane is already a crap show at FSU. How do you justify getting rid of one of the best jump coaches in the NCAA . I hope a big Sec school like Arkansas picks him up . Coach Levan sands had the most productive season out of every coach on that coaching staff. The man group scored 22 points in the Lj at the Acc Conference meet . The man scored 23 points in the triple jump and scored 45 points at the conference meet.He had two guys make it to nationals in the triple jump, and 3 guys qualify to nationals. Two guys scored at nationals. You coach a walk on kid to a runner up at nationals and have him become Olympic trials champion. How do you get rid of a coach after a year like that.
Sands also did really well with the kids at Northern Colorado. My guess is that he probably caused some friction or tension with Kane or there were some potential rules violations or something along those lines.
Sands is a good coach. He'll land on his feet.
Keith Herston recruited and developed most those guys. He had one of the easiest jobs in the country.

incorrect. 2 of the 3 LJ that made nationals were recruited by Sands. 1 of the 2 TJ was recruited by Sands. Davis had a PB of 7.99m and had not jumped over 15m in college prior to Sands. His PBs are now 8.37m and 16.78m.
Any actual job updates?

The only man or woman who was on the team when Herston was there is Jeremiah. He had a great freshman year with Herston and got significantly better with Sands and Sands also many him into a great triple jumper which he was very poor as a freshman. Sands did a great job with all the long and triple jumpers there, there is no enying that. They also performed very well in championship meets.
I am happy for Josh as I have known him for years now. I am just curious what hapened to the previous coach, Kenyetta Iyevbele, as she had her contract extended to 2026.
