Sands also did really well with the kids at Northern Colorado. My guess is that he probably caused some friction or tension with Kane or there were some potential rules violations or something along those lines.
Sands is a good coach. He'll land on his feet.
Keith Herston recruited and developed most those guys. He had one of the easiest jobs in the country.

incorrect. 2 of the 3 LJ that made nationals were recruited by Sands. 1 of the 2 TJ was recruited by Sands. Davis had a PB of 7.99m and had not jumped over 15m in college prior to Sands. His PBs are now 8.37m and 16.78m.

The only man or woman who was on the team when Herston was there is Jeremiah. He had a great freshman year with Herston and got significantly better with Sands and Sands also many him into a great triple jumper which he was very poor as a freshman. Sands did a great job with all the long and triple jumpers there, there is no enying that. They also performed very well in championship meets.
