Oh no! He spilled! Straight to bed for him with no supper! This is completely unacceptable!
This type of very serious incident is probably why Trump always uses two hands like a big boy when drinking a glass of water—lest he be immediately impeached and removed from office for spilling and making a horrible mess.
Most of our normie Trumpers have left or gone hidden into the weeds on this board. Not surprising because how do you defend Trump and his actions?
So now we are left with the cult like Trumpers fully embracing the autocratic state with Trump doing whatever he sees fit regardless of constitutionality.
What do you think is happening out in the real world? Are normie republicans embracing their new dictator? Are they still making the excuse that they voted Trump just for the economy?
What are you seeing out there?
I normally avoid politics at work, but last week a guy was saying what a great negotiator Trump is. I asked "How / what is he negotiating?" His answer was bringing back manufacturing.
I said "by destabilizing long held agreements, removing funding from Universities and increasing inflation? Seems like an investor / company would wait for financial stability and lower prices. Can you name any companies that are increasing US manufacturing in response to tariffs? I can name a few who have done the opposite, like Stellantis. Inflation is coming soon, it just hasn't propagated through the supply chain yet. Expect significant inflation on the next month or so."
Response "well he is securing the border". He could not argue the economics, so he moves the goal post. His wife is from China and does real estate deals with Chinese buyers in US. Wonder if he'll cheer when she is detained on her next return trip. Will they send her to China or El Salvador?
In short, the pain has not hit Trump supporters directly yet, so they may have a doubt, but are sure it will turn around. Massive, sustained pain for Americans is the only possible wake up call. Sad but true.

And here's the thing: Like some others, I don't think the sh!t will really hit the fan until the late summer or fall. I think we'll be able to muddle through the rest of this school year; the start of the next one (and all the ancillary activities and businesses associated with the schools) could be very, very tough.
1 What did you learn in history classes? In Europe most people see the similarities between Trump's administration, the old communist dictators and the nazis in Germany. How come so many Americans don't see the similarities with neither communism, nazism or fascism?
2 What do you base your decisions upon? I have 9 years of university education, but I understand that if most experts says x and I believe in y, then I am most likely wrong
Zelensky: "I believe that Mr Witkoff has taken on the strategy of the Russian side. I think it is very dangerous, because he is consciously or unconsciously, I don't know, spreading Russian narratives". "I don't see [Mr Witkoff] as having a mandate to discuss Ukrainian territories, because our territories belong to our people, not only to us, but to future Ukrainians. So I don't understand what he is talking about at all".

Yeah, but he didn't wear a suit.
BTW, does a blue suit, white shirt, and red tie worn by a Trumper s***er now officially called a "costume" ?

Imagine all of the Trumpers who have, understandably, thought at some point in their life, "Geez, those Germans. It took until so many of their cities and towns were in rubble before they, reluctantly, decided that maybe that Nazi stuff wasn't so great. Why didn't they come to that conclusion sooner??"
Just how much "rubble" do modern Americans need to see ???

there is very little understanding of european history among Americans. Few could give you even a thumbnail sketch of what WW2 was all about. Almost no one could draw the parallel you are making.
Interestingly, in America the old folks have, for the first time in maybe forever, moved toward the left. I think a major reason for that is that oldsters do have some memory of the totalitarians of the 30s-80s, and see trump as one of them.
Younger people have no knowledge or memory of that period and just think Trump is an appealing man who will fight for traditional culture in some way. They have no idea that trump is following the same path as authoritarians throughout the 20c.

most have never been in an American city and probably think the cities are already full of rubble and look like 'Escape from New York.'
But more to your point, I think you'd be surprised how many germans kept nazi sympathies after the war. They agreed with the politics and for a few years Germany beat their enemies and was king of Europe. That's heady stuff that's hard to drop.
Same here. Trump could cause the next great depression but they'd stay loyal because he beat the enemy libs so many times. The good old days. Man does not live by bread and the Dow Jones Industrial Average alone. We do enjoy seeing our enemies driven before us.

I have a very, very hard time chalking up much, if any, of Trumpism to poor education.
Education in America isn't to blame for tens of millions of Americans pretending not to see - or openly being OK with - dishonesty, indecency, election stealing, incompetence, lawlessness, etc., etc., etc.
It reflects some combination of ethical/moral/social faults, but it largely ain't the teachers' fault.

No, I don't know much about it, but I certainly wouldn't be surprised that that was true of many Germans. But that's the nice thing about democracies (or whatever the correct political science term is): One need not have ALL Germans become anti-Nazi or ALL Americans become anti-Trumpism. You need some critical number. And hell, the people who get you to that number need not even be 100% "sincere"! You just need enough. The Germans got there, apparently. When will we?

Clearly Rs excuse the amorality of Trump by saying two things:
1/ 'every politician is just as criminal and amoral and did the exact same crimes as trump,' so they give trump a pass
and they say
2/ who cares - he's a jerk but he's our jerk and he gets things done. We're not electing a choir boy here.
If you think every politician is just as bad as trump - and Republicans do think that to the bottom of their addled souls - then it's not a morality question, just a 'who will make the libs lose more.'

My experience with Trumpers is that they are headline readers. They don’t do nuance nor deep dives into anything. Everything must be simplistic and black and white. Even though the world and issues are complicated.
I spoke to someone yesterday about the Garcia case and it was “good. We need gang members out of here”.
Where do you go with that? Are you going to explain due process to a Trumper? Are you going to try to explain that the court was not forbidding deportations in any way? How about our founding principles? None of it would register.
