Sure, a waiver likely says lots of crap. So there’s a fight to get the waiver tossed. That happens all the time. Then there’s the rule that you have to file a protest by noon the next day. You fight that crap too. From the outset the goal is to ugly things up and make a public spectacle and make them look bad for not doing their dam job.
Like I said, the damages are small. Winning a buck isn’t the goal. Filing a viable case is good enough.

Our boy Frank has no shot in a defamation case. He’s a public figure so he’d have to show that the accusations of cheating are false AND that such accusations were made with actual malice (a blatant disregard for the truth). Good luck with that. And speaking of cheating, what was the upshot on doubler and the Sprouts Mesa-PHX Marathon? That was also a "world record" -- and one that is referenced on the Loyola High School athletic website.

No. I've never pulled anything like that. I write the articles, and contact the races. I never do that kind of crap, contact employers, or even sponsors.
I expect that in many cases my readers will contact sponsors, but I shut down the discussion the best I can whenever someone advocates or provides information regarding employers, personal Facebook pages, etc.

Well, Dr Meza is respected within the school and various communities, if he tells them he holds the world record and it's there in the results, what are they going to do?
As you feel so strongly about it perhaps you could be the guiding light of all that is good and proper and contact them with what you believe to be the truth.

To the poster who posted these words..........this is letsrun.com, a site for runners and visitors to a runners site. To try to be funny (or mean, perhaps) ain't too cool. 6 hour marathoners include former olympic trials runners, and others who have lost their "base", yet still run slower. Ask the elite marathoners how much they are impressed with us "slower than them" runners. They are aware that most of us are puting in as much work as they are for up to 3 or 4 times longer. They watch us with awe and respect. My experience as an older and "slower runner than youthful days" is that the vast majority of us show "respect to all our fellow "racers". That is what makes races so uplifting. It is one giant party, for all. I am sure Doubler can laugh off your comment. But, if it hurts even one runner, is it really cool? This is not to say that I am the boss of the world, and should be telling you what to say or not, say. But as the saying goes..."just sayin"....
Frank Meza isn’t even a hobby jogger, either...But if the issue is good runners, think of the accolades FM stole from them.
FM is a hobby cheater...He cheats “for fun.”
