Trump is better for both Palestinians and Israelis. When Trump was president, no wars broke out, and the historic Abraham Accords led to peace in the Middle East. Also, if Trump were president now, far more Democrats would calling for a ceasefire.
Trump will let "Israel finish the job in Gaza." How do you think that will work out for the Palestinians.
The Abraham Accords led to peace in the Middle East? I know Trump bragged about that, but have you been paying attention for the past year or so?
Great, and how many lives have been lost (I get it, they are not American so they don’t matter) and when do the wars actually end? Much easier to negotiate and avoid war than to get an actual “cease fire.” How many Ukrainians have had their families torn apart and upended forever?
yeah I hear you
unfortunately the history of negotiating with tyrants like Putin when they are bent on imperial conquest is not one with much success. We can all mourn the dead and the lives ruined but blaming America for those things is not defendable.
That said, Obama did manage a successful negotiation with Iran to stop their nuke program, but, again showing how diplomacy fails...as soon as Trump took office he unilaterally killed the deal the Iranian government stuck out its neck for. Which proved to Iran that the US is not an honorable negotiating partner. They won't negotiate with us for a long time. There's nothing we can do with Iran anymore since the Republican party poisoned that well.
Let’s be fair, you’re not mourning any of the dead or lives ruined, just like you’ve probably not donated even a penny to the Hurricane Helene cleanup. And even if you have, it’s unlikely your brethren on here have, because, you know, that’s the government’s job, however wasteful and inefficient. We can just raise taxes!
Diplomacy does matter. Setting the tone does matter. If you draw a red line, then you have to enforce the red line, lest you be perceived as weak and feckless. Like the Afghanistan withdrawal (no matter how improperly negotiated, which I agree with) or the tone on the border. Tone matters.
yeah she should actually, you know, run for office.
but the problem is that the Republicans destroyed her professional reputation under false pretenses in the whole Benghazi debacle.
One of the crazeballs nutty right wing insanities that we've all had to live through.
Again, maybe you should be shouting at the 'conservatives' on this one.
Right. I agree. Just like Democrats destroyed Condi Rice over the “mushroom cloud” comment.
Let’s be clear though. Benghazi was never about Benghazi. I mean, not to the extent the argument is that one Hillary Clinton didn’t respond quickly and decisively enough in the actual moment. It’s more about that Obama pulled a George W Bush when he orchestrated the coup on Khaddafi without Congressional approval.
The primary difference being that no US troops were stationed in the aftermath. He got NATO to do his dirty work. But a coup that led to a Civil War that was indirectly responsible for that massive dam break in the east of the country that possibly killed up to 10,000 Libyans. You know, stuff that Americans are hardly aware of or care about, but stuff you, as an intellectual who reads “objective, unbiased” news sources should be familiar with.
Believe me, there is lots of blame and blood to be assigned to Democrats and Republicans alike. Iraq was a massive “W” blunder.
I’m especially highlighting this, because, you know, the ridiculousness of Benghazi became such a talking point for both sides. Whether or not we could’ve actually helped that embassy, the Civil War we created that enabled that assault and the destruction of Libya that continues to this day is rarely talked about. It should be talked about. It was yet another American blunder, but, hey, as long as we didn’t lose US lives over and above the embassy diplomats, and as long as it happened under a Democrat, it’s all good. Libyan lives don’t matter.

Internal polling shows Michigan is likely to come down to a few thousand votes (via my school’s Republican club - I go to school right over the border and we’ve been asked to turn out voters). Heading there for the next weekends until the election to try to make turnout among rural white males as high as possible.
Trump will win Michigan and then win the election. MA6A!
Correct!
Historically speaking MI & PA vote in the same direction in presidential elections. When MI goes red for Trump, PA will too!

same in Iraq and Cambodia, where our actions led to the deaths of hundreds of thousands even if we didn't do the killing ourselves.
regrettably, tyranny is indeed better for the average person than freedom in some cultures.
Although remember what supposedly some 20c chinese diplomat said when asked if the French Revolution was a good thing or not: 'Too soon to tell,' he may or may not have replied. Sometimes after a fitful period, things calm down nicely. But have to wait.
In the 80s Central America was a nightmare, full of war and death squads. Now it's fairly stable and getting ever better. Maybe a bad period helped them get to this better place.

I’m talking specifically about American-subsidized proxy wars, you know, like Israel-Iran (Palestine) and Ukraine Russia. How many have been killed in just those two wars alone, wars that just so happened to not be underway in oh, say 2019? Russia didn’t invade any part of Ukraine under Trump like it did under Obama or Biden. Yes, I know, it’s tricky and just “not that easy.” But it’s also a fact.
If we're being fair, Trump blew up the treaty with Iran removing what little political leverage the West might have had over Iran, moved the US embassy in Israel to Jerusalem pissing off the Palestinians, tried to blackmail the president of Ukraine for personal political gain , and clearly damaged NATO.
It's hard to see Trump as stabilizing the world order, but this is LetsRun where you say any stupid crap with impunity.
she doesn't want to remove the filibuster entirely
she wants to eliminate the filibuster as a discrete 'carve out' to codify Roe v Wade
this kind of carve out has been done already for some senate approvals. Not unprecedented.
There is a word for a “discrete carve out”: a precedence. For her to do something like this now would green light future administrations (some you may not agree with) to do the same.
Just to be 100% clear as I'm not sure if you meant all of us are nervous or just agip is, but I'm not nervous about anything. Harris is going to win. It's over.
Also, what agip said there is correct. Trump and his MAAGA minions still in office don't care about the border...they only care about it as a political talking point...that was made clear when Trump had them pass on the bi-partisan border agreement. Also, the actions of Mike Johnson are abhorrent.
Harris is going to win. It's over.
I’m glad you are so cocksure, as usual.
Conservatives cared about the border for the three long years that Biden/Harris exacerbated the problem and set the tone with Mexico that it was essentially an open door so invite all the South and Central Americans too, would ya? Only to *correctly* realize it was a political liability a year ago and to then seek a bipartisan bill that was still somewhat impotent and that also included massive handouts to Israel and Ukraine. You know, all the while debt to GDP is at 120% and climbing. Now, if you need to characterize them as M.A.G.A., so be it. I was onboard with not giving Biden a political win. But I sure as hell would’ve been on board with it in year 1.
Had Democrats also realized a year ago, like the rest of us, just how far Biden was gone, they would’ve pulled a mutiny then and run a proper Democratic process and primary to nominate a candidate people could actually get excited about. But they didn’t. They chose Kabuki Theatre.
And if Trump wins, even though he’s surely not my pick, I will laugh at you, especially you. If for no other reason than your arrogance and Demagoguery.
Oh, the humanity! when Flagpole's girl loses on election night.
It's going to be fun seeing all the posts aimed at him.

Trump also cut aid to the Palestinians (this was subsequently reversed by Biden).

Iran is funding Hezbolla thanks to Sleepy Joe's release of frozen funds.
