Jeff, I’m responding specifically to you because you actually seem like the one semi-reasonable progressive on here. I guess, ultimately, this vote comes down to who you think is the lesser *existential* threat to Democracy.
My vote doesn’t count as I live in a deeply blue state, but I will readily admit that as an unaffiliated voter who generally leans right, I will vote a Republican down ballot ticket (because my state and its sanctuary cities are awful and a mere shadow of what they used to be), but I’m going to write in the president.
And this thread, if nothing else, has helped me clarify my thoughts there that I will write in Susan Rice to prove a point. Elevate someone of that stature, an African American woman with real domestic and international policy experience (beyond just casting partisan tie-breaking votes) who is pedigreed and respectable, mainly, and who professes anything but the victim card. That’s exactly what this country needs.
But I would understand a fence sitter in a swing state who was pushed to vote for Trump because of all the contemptible, condescending, vitriolic, mocking Democrats like those on this thread. Exactly because of them. Kind of like me with the hard core Branch Covidian vaxtards who hadn’t an ounce of humility. A guy like me, healthy, fit, and with natural immunity was still considering the Novavax booster, but these guys talked me out of it. And they just simply cannot see how their behavior is so off-putting and achieves the opposite of its intended effect.
It’s just easier to chalk it all up to stupidity rather than look in the mirror and do some introspection. There’s nothing left to say. It’s sad either way.

I know you loathe the process that went into Harris being the nominee and I’ve never found her to be an adept politician. But I’m ok with it because she’s been Biden’s replacement this whole time, should he die or resign.
Harris, if she’s elected, will be a normal president who isn’t out to strangle the opposition. Trump’s primary motivation to run is to escape prosecution and his backers know that they’re never going to get more than 45% of the vote, so the way to win is to suppress the other side. They want to entrench Trump loyalists at every level of the government from the Supreme Court down to civil servants.
This noxiousness of Trump where he has no interest in fairness or the rule of law or in serving the needs of Americans who didn’t support him needs to die on November 5. If not, the US will be on its way to being a new Russian Federation.

If this in reference to the breaking story/revelation that Trump has been having phone calls with Putin since Trump left office, you have absolutely lost your mind and any sense of your own country. Your thought processes, ability to use logic or objectivity, or even care about your own country and security is so destroyed by this time, that these new revelations don't even register with you other than something you need to defend.
There is something VERY wrong with any American who impulsively thinks to excuse new revelations about Trump's extraordinary friendship with Russia -- America's primary enemy.

Which is a main reason why the "conservatives'" attempt to overthrow the 2020 election is so dangerous. Democracy won't work if one party refuses to accept losses in free and fair elections. And democracy wont' work if we can't get rid of the bad ones via the ballot box.

I think my main point though, also made by 60 minutes in that interview, is that had you recognized in Biden what so many of us already knew long before you knew (your media and party lied and covered it over until they couldn’t anymore), you would’ve found way to elevate a desirable candidate that people could actually get behind through the Democratic primary process. There would’ve been plenty of time and a respectable candidate.
But, since it’s clear your entire worldview and that of your constituency is just to get rid of Trump, that even SpongeBob would’ve been an acceptable Dem candidate, you very well might lose. I wish you could see it.

For example, you seem to think that Harris is not popular among Dems, or something like that. Or that she was foisted on the Dems and Dems are displeased. There is an element of foistedness, yes, but she is very popular among Dems - more popular than trump is among Rs, despite his going through the whole primary procedure:

I get it, you think the border is the dominant factor and the dems messed it up. Not totally disagreeing. but don't try to argue that Harris is unpopular among Dems. She is very popular and history books will marvel at how quickly and seamlessly she was able to gather the party around her when Joe stepped aside.
If she were not popular, that transition would have been chaos. But no other Dem saw even a slim chance of peeling off support. Remarkable display of political charisma and skill.

Whether or not you liked what he had to say in his first run, he was often coherent, frequently entertaining, and occasionally truly funny. Now, not so much.
The energy and sharpness are just gone, and the positive motivation he had in 2016--I don't think he ever expected to win, but he was having fun running--contrasts badly with the negative motivation now, when I think he's mostly just trying to stay out of jail. Feeble, indeed. I really don't think he's capable of doing the job.
