The new BITR shoe reviews are even more confusing than before. They have some sort of Form-Fit-Function rating that no one can make sense of. Why can’t they review shoes like weight, upper, midsole, ride and outsole like everyone else?
You need to find ways to make every shoe in the world sound amazing when the brands are flying you around the world.

Saucony Elite review "amazing foam and amazing shoe, we all love it"
Saucony Elite 2 review "Man, I think we got a bad batch or something of the v1 because it was terrible. Version 2 is amazing though!"
Official totals for the BITR “winter grit” mileage (one of their premier cult/scam events of the year, for which they charge $64 to see which of their cult members can log the most miles):
Kofluzi with a blistering pace at the Tropicana 5k. Making Runna owners proud.
Looking at his strava, first mile was a 6:09, then falls to 6:38, 6:54, 7:32….
It’s really something when you think about it. This is a dude who runs thousands of miles a year. 3,000+ miles each year for the last few years. Countless races too. He hasn’t developed the instinct to know how to pace himself.
That Houston race a few weeks ago, same thing.
Do we know who sponsored this trip so we can shame them?
[Shameless self promotion here...sorry I'll fully admit to being kind of a narcissist!],
But for those interested (since we were talking about "The Taco Bell 50km" earlier), and to help out my good friend Stephen Gnoza (aka "Serious Runner") who is still an "up and coming" Youtuber that deserves more subs for his quality content:
Ok, Sage. Everyone has been giving you a pass while they roast shoe tubers, but you still want to talk about promotion? How about that $400 dollar smart foam roller you are shilling now? Of all of the crappy products youtubers have in their videos man, this thing takes the cake. It's as useless as Floberg coaching.

I don't get a free pass! I shill products all the time (and am very transparent and in-your- face about that). I'm also a narcissist (like most in the space imo) and I'll fully admit to that. This is not a big secret or some conspiracy....
If you don't like the ads then don't watch them! But it's a huge part of my total Youtube income...which was about 1/6 of what Kofuzi made (at least on Google Adsense) apparently. I made less than $10k on Google Adsense in 2024. I'll release a video about it soon. Between paying a double mortgage since the Boulder fire and racking up a lot of medical debt with my pulmonary embolism medical costs and tests over the last 3 years ....cash flow is actually really tight right now so I'm trying to do more "paid gigs" and work with video content creation. I do say "no" to a lot of products though. I'm not a trustfunder or some "rich running influencer" in Boulder with a lot of money to throw around or fall all back on....so I fight for every penny. And I've got to always be creating content at this day and age (or coaching at some level). But I chose this life...the life of an independent contractor and small business owner.
When you're a "sponsored athlete" or "influencer" you are essentially a marketing arm for companies and brands and a big part of your job is to shill products. Deciding which product is more "valuable to society" or "inherently moral" to shill is up to the content creator and the consumer. I'd say there is a lot of subjective gray area there. However, it's a reason why I decided to part ways with a company like Spring Energy last summer for the record. Your job is to plug products, brands, and make ads online. To paraphrase Daniel Pink: "We're all in sales"... at some level...whether you like it or not....
What industry do you work in and what's your job title?
Admitting to being a narcissist while continuing to just engage in narcissistic behavior is wild. It’s like a person admitting to being an alcoholic while continuing to drink. Hey, I know I just drove drunk and wrecked my car, but I’ve always been transparent that I’m an alcoholic!

That's not really a logical comparison at all. I believe a lot of alcoholics would admit to being (and probably know) that they are alcoholics....and continue to drink. Smokers as well for that matter. Sure, some % might be in denial about it though (same with narcissist!) or not aware to the degree of their issue. It's a matter of self awareness and what kind of "reality distortion field" you may or may not put up....as well as recognizing personal bias...
But I'm not sure how you somehow jumped to "driving drunk" from any of this?
For the record though (totally a separate issue from video content creation and being an influencer/sponsored athlete) I'm very, very against drunk drivers (and driving under the influence).
I made the comparison because the poster accused you of being a narcissistic and shilling expensive garbage products, to which you responded that you admit you’re a narcissist and you do shill expensive garbage products. Hence, “I’m an admitted alcoholic and I do drink and drive.” You literally proved my point.

Lol…. Pacing yourself is not an issue when you’ve never learned to run fast. He should continue buying the latest greatest racing flats, however.

That is also not what I wrote....check your reading comprehension. Again, I'm not sure what illogical point you are trying to make here with this alcoholic and drinking and driving "comparison"? Breaking the law and endangering the lives of other users on the road is a bit far fetched then working in marketing and advertising and sales...you think?
I admitted to being somewhat narcissistic and for promoting/pushing product (like most influencers and sponsored athletes and "content creators" do for their job all the time). That's just stating the obvious. I do think some people in the "content creation" (be they Running Influencers or whatever) space are very self centered and somewhat narcissistic (it goes with the territory of having to film yourself all the time and post about yourself or products all the time on social media) but aren't very aware of it though. Depends on your personal "worldview" and perception of things I guess.

You know Sage, you’re a no nonsense type of guy and I (for one) appreciate that. You’ve also EARNED the right to review a shoe (in my book). I hereby resend all sillly Canadian jokes made in the past AND future.
