There is not a lot of evidence of this being anything other than standard procedure for a major offensive. No military in the world can keep an offensive going indefinitely and always needs time to replenish fuel, food and arms and to assess strategy. Ukraine's counteroffensive has moved in a number of directions, prompting Russia to shift forces from Kherson and to launch a major push on the Kremina/Svatove line to try to regain the initiative. UA's modus operandi in its offensive operations is to probe weak points in Russian defenses and then exploit them. UA's first advance in the counteroffensive has been along multiple axes, indicating an effort to find the best points for a major assault. UA has not yet committed the bulk of the forces they have assembled for this counteroffensive. So, this is just beginning and more is to come.
And if you were wondering why Ukrainians are still willing to make such huge sacrifices to fight of Russia, just look at some of the recent reports regarding systemic torture, forced labor, and rape by Russian forces and FSB in occupied territories.
Then, if you scoff when Zelensky warns that the West will be fighting Russia if Ukraine fails to stop them, just look at Lavrov threatening Moldova with invasion over its choice to look to NATO for protection.

You sound like a very naive and probably dumb person. No one in the US, except a weird misguided cult, actually wants Russian invaders to successfully conquer a European country. That would be terrible for US interests and the entire free world. So the media doesn't have to guide anyone's expectations as to what is at stake. Normal people know it. Russia is an enemy of the US. Arguably the biggest enemy the US has ever encountered.

The American government is a terrorist organization and has been for decades, creating wars then losing them. The best thing for global peace right now is for Russia to end the only Nazi government in the world, which is also driving countries away from the US dollar to the PetroYuan. These are all very good steps for humanity, as America's terrorism will be lessened. China and Russia are much better for global peace and humanity than America. They are usurping America now and it's wonderful.
