I think Trump is kind of like the fuddy old uncle who says the nasty racist stuff out loud, that other people get in trouble for, so people enjoy listening to the shock value.
And his overwhelming insecurities drive not only the pathological lying, but more interestingly, the constant streams of vile hatred, and that part is also enjoyable for its shock value, AND more, I think a lot of his followers really like hearing intelligent people insulted. I think they share the insecurity and anger about intelligent people looking down on them. Like several of the trolls on this thread--they revel in insults like emotionally challenged young children.

Not just incompetence. One can add AT LEAST cruelty.
In fact, the more I think about it, it might not be incompetence at all. Some of the tariff stuff might be incompetence. And perhaps some of DOGE. And PLENTY of other things, of course. But refusing to take one person back, as he easily could do at any moment? That's not incompetence. That's arrogance and cruelty.
Being born wealthy is the easiest way to amass tens of millions of dollars and the second easiest way, by far, is to be involved in the Democratic Party at the Federal level.
