Conservatives absolutely do not want chaos at the border. If the Democrats lose this election as it’s looking more and more like they might, it is because of this one issue. This is their “overturning Roe” moment. That SCOTUS decision cost the Republicans politically in 2020 and 2022 as it absolutely should have and as I warned.

Biden from day one immediately rescinded almost every one of Trump’s executive orders on the border, put the border in Kamala’s orbit, even if she wasn’t the actual “czar,” and very publicly bragged about it. And for what? To show that he isn’t a racist? To try to cultivate more voters for his party? He very seriously and egregiously exacerbated the illegal immigration problem, most of them coming from South and Central America through policy and tone. Mexico’s president is going exploit what he’s given. It means more remittances for his country’s GNP.

This was easy. Biden could’ve come out hard on immigration from day 1, and very overtly put Kamala in charge of it in the news cycle incessantly. Instead he used it as his primary gaslighting issue for three years before he realized it was costing him politically and he needed a bipartisan compromise. Only then did he get his somewhat toothless bill, replete with Ukraine and Israel funding at the 11th hour. Sorry Charlie, that’s not how it works. Not after a three year invasion (insurrection?).

Conservatives will embrace immigration, a reasonable path to citizenship and de facto amnesty once the bleeding is stopped. Nobody I know has a problem with a legal path to citizenship that doesn’t needlessly and carelessly drain our resources, like the FEMA diversions. The patient is bleeding out in the ER, hmmmm, should we do an MRI and echocardiogram on him first do ya think or should we stop the bleeding?

If Biden/Kamala would’ve simply been more draconian on border policy, and had the administration and media not hidden how bad off Biden was up until the debate and run an actual primary with an actual desirable candidate who people could respect and get excited about, they would be pulling away, no problem. But they (you) didn’t. You played politics.

Joe Biden, in a very callous, careless, and tone deaf manner, exacerbated the border problem and gaslit the American public for three long years before he sought a political compromise and “win.” And, since he ostensibly gave it to Kamala under her purview, they both own it. Combine that with the FEMA diversion optics tied to housing illegal immigrants when the hurricanes should be winning issues, and you have a “perfect storm,” pun intended.

Combine that with Harris being complicit in the plan to displace Biden (effectively stealing the job) for months if not years prior, and you have a problem. Run a proper primary, the party of existential commitment to Democracy. They you have a legitimate candidate that people like and respect. Even SNL portrays her as an alcoholic. Nobody likes her.

And of course you are trying to win a debate with me. You are taking a contrary position to what I am saying in an attempt to be more convincing and win an argument. Why else are you arguing with strangers on the internet?

you just don't seem to understand how political parties work or what their purpose is. And you seem to think that somehow a primary system could have been put together in time for the convention? That's your argument? It makes no sense. One of the reasons political parties are successful is how they smooth out the bumps like this and hold voting coalitions together. An open convention would have torn apart the Dem voting coalition. Dems knew this so they are fine with Harris. This is a feature, not a bug.

as for the border...yes, it was a screw up but an honorable one. Biden felt that Congress should solve the problem with laws and reformation of the immigration system. So he waited for Congress to do its work. And yes, Congress did work together in a bipartisan manner, got the bill done. Triumph for American Democracy? No, because Trump killed it to make more chaos on the border.

So then, seeing that the congress had failed, Biden used executive orders. Which worked, but represent a failure of a our democracy. Everything trump touches dies and he is killing the national legislature with stunts like this.

In other words, Biden's plan was an honorable way to try to get congress to do its job rather than have the president rule like a king with exec orders. It failed because he thought Rs actually wanted to fix the border. Fine. Hold it against him. Not fair, but go ahead.

Yeah FEMA fail is just optics, you are right about that. Not factual.
