No, that first split is for 209 meters not 200. With the adjustment, it was a 28 low, perfect
Napolitano probably did get spooked by hearing the 209 split and ran the next 200 too fast before settling back.
So you can fault him for that if you're on a crusade.

No, he was 56.00 through 409 meters. With the adjustment, that's sub-55 for 400m.
He was right on for the first lap, then ran the second 200m too fast, probably because he was confused by the 209 split.

I don't get why they ask for such fast opening splits - 56 / 1:53. Why not ask for even 57s? That way the pacer can last longer and then you can just hammer the last lap. Plus, almost all pacers run the first 200/400 too hard. I would have just asked for a first 440y of 57-58 and then 1:54

Hate all you want, but this only proves me right about the physics of banked tracks. Here were are in the offseason, everyone in base phase, or at the very least not raced into shape, no serious competition, no big stakes, and a guy almost breaks the world record and scares the outdoor form charts in an event he doesn't even normally run.
It's the track. The tracks are just that good. The only reason the best elites aren't bum-rushing these meets to run 3:45 is they know, I know, you know it would instantly be a big joke. Not worth it.
Kejelcha ran just well enough that we can keep pretending, if we want to...
