No, the results from 2004 were far from clean. The extent of doping from 2001-2012 appears to have been"extraordinary." More than 800 athletes representing 180+ endurance medals were deemed highly suspicious.

The only flaw in this approach is that it doesn't address flagrant cheating since 2005.

They should wipe all pre 2100 world records, as it will take at least until then to clean up the sport. What we really need is tiny implantable dope detectors, so that athletes are having their blood values monitored 24/7, and thus have no opportunity to dope. Until then, doping will be rife, and the idea of a clean world record will be laughable.

From the part of my ahss that said

So it's not as simple as having a sample from the record performance at all .. but a stringent series of tests to accompany that.

I have a tough time believing she was clean, but fully support her suing them and hope others follow suit based on the mere possibility they were clean.

This doesn't just cast a shadow on those currently holding a WR that happened before '05. It does so for everyone ever to have a WR before '05.

Will they wipe the records clean again when WADA finds out they missed yet another new drug, but this time it can't be tested for in urine or blood? What if the drug can only be discovered by testing the air they exhale? Or their hair? Or by analyzing some other yet to be discovered way of finding the next super drug? We can not say with certainty everything can be found in a stored sample. Not to mention certain drugs and methods may be legal, then banned, then become legal again.

The soul of sport has nothing to do with WRs. By pulling such a stunt the IAAF trivializes the fundamental pursuit of sport, which is self discovery, and replaces it with absolute performance judged by a watch or tape measure.

The prisoners (world class athletes) might be criminals more often than not, but do you really trust the guards (WADA) to tell the truth any more?

Paula suing will be the best thing that could happen.

The Flagstaff Runner Teamâ„¢ is starting to look pretty good in 2017.

In addition to Laura Muir and Andy Butchart joining the Flagstaff Runner Teamâ„¢, there are some other hobby joggers who have also joined the team and are getting in the way of everyone...by constantly running in lane 1 during track workouts.

For example:

1) The pudgy and out-of-shape Brit Sir Mo Farah can be seen on the track in lane 1, in a completely hopeless attempt to keep up with Sir Eric Jenkins:

Just a pity there was barely any out if competition testing in Jamaica when Bolt set his records.

Not to mention that the IAAF were taking bribes to cover up fails as in the recent Russian whistle blower case

The report is remarkably thin in its reasoning. And after setting out four options, the option of continuing with the status quo is dismissed in a single sentence that seems to reflect the committee's view of its assigned task rather than any serious consideration of that option:

"The 'No Change' option was rejected immediately by the Project Team as the brief was to propose way of ensuring credibility."

The three remaining options considered by the committee all seem pretty bad, and many obvious questions about the selected option are never addressed.

Thanks for the link, I'm not so sure that 2005 will necessarily be the cut off date, no where do they say 2005 in that report. It is more an interpretation in the media that 2005 will used. They are saying that the samples have to available for retesting for 10 years, also prior to setting what are going to now be new records the athletes must have been tested a certain number of times. This could be problematic for some of the Africans like Kimetto (it would be funny if Bekele lost the 5 & 10 but gained the Marathon). They also recommend that if an athlete fails a test at a later date they lose all their records. The question is what would the men's 4 x 100m WR be? Carter, Blake and Powell have all failed tests since 2005, as have Gatlin and Gay. Looking through, it would either be Jamaica from the 2014 Commonwealth games or Japan in Rio (now that would be funny). They are also hinting that records should be ratified at high profile events, I wonder if Webb's mile record at a pokey little meet will stand, nonetheless if it is the new world mile record I can guarantee that Kiprop, Makhloufi, Iguider, Willis and Centro will all want to race in more mile events in the near future.

I don't see how sports federations and leagues have a leg to stand on when

accusing athletes of doping whether recently, years or even decades before.

They don't have US Law Enforcement certified technicians gather the samples nor do they have proper Chain of Custody Procedures as required by Courts for Jury convictions. This is the biggest legal, moral, and public weakness in this

issue as far as I see it.
