I agree with all the above except for your last statement. There are unscrupulous people who will try to cheat and it is good that they're being caught and taken off the playing field. This is a good day for track and field. There will be fewer medals in Rio that have to be reallocated years afterwards.

I agree it's great for athletics long term and even short term, catching cheats should be a priority. It is also great that this came out before Rio.

But what is sad, is that it is becoming harder and harder for athletics to stand up as a reputable sport. Not because dopers have been caught but because it becomes more and more apparent that drug cheating is a cancer whose roots spread wide and deep in athletics. It is harder and harder to believe what we are seeing.

If we caught every single doper in the sport tomorrow, the stigma around the sport would survive a generation or two. Athletics is dying and it is because of this doping problem it cannot shake. Catching dopers doesn't make the sport seem cleaner, it makes us feel "oh god, there's more of them".

I want to see lifetime bans, I'm tired of this sport allowing itself to be dragged through the mud by dopers.

Make doping illegal in every country, put in place lifetime doping bans for athletes and coaches, scrap all the records and only allow athletes who have an OOC testing history and blood passport in place to compete in the IOC and IAAF events.

Start again. This sport cannot be fixed.

Currently the benefits of doping far outweigh the potential consequences, so it is unsurprising so many do it. The punishment needs to be so bad no one would even consider doping. Examples need to be made by completely ruining doper's lives. Harsh, but that is the only way.

The IAAF would promote some others that would never test positive. At this point in time, it's not an athlete problem.

Work on the IAAF enabling doping by dramatically improving transparency in anti-doping reporting and everything should "slow down." Unfortunately, that means the primary source for basic graft also dies.

You're expecting people to be reasonable. Murder can get you a life sentence and yet people still do it.

you're confusing Makhloufi with Rashid Ramzi. The latter was the utmost jerk, universally hated, almost never competed except at championships, and was actually caught with EPO in 2011 (according to the initial article), in addition to being caught for CERA, whereas Makhloufi is friendly with the other athletes and an entertaining figure who races frequently and allows his workouts to be posted. Of course, we all thought Makhloufi was doping but he left the group three or four years ago and until they nab him, we should focus on those they just got, namely, Souleiman, Kaki, and multiple Dibabas. That is very big news.

I agree with you that great joy can overcome pain after finishing a race; however, I looked at about a dozen of what I consider great 'clean' performances and all of them have a least a brief period within the first minute of finishing the race where you see something to suggest fatigue. PEDs can such a great effect on females middle distance runners that they barely get tired and are almost limited only by the their raw sprint speed. Look at the film of Jarmila when she ran her 1:53x 800 WR, she seemed like she was in a 400m sprint posture the whole race. PEDs can make a performance look almost superhuman.

Compare that with soccer, where due to the technical skills required in playing and the strong testing, doping is virtually unknown now.

First, this is only about coach, not runner Dibaba. Dibaba all naturalle, if you know what I mean.

She train altitude at high metres, what that means can anyone who understands, understand. Blood lipid profiles, more viscosity, faster acceleration, but - this only for ATHLETA who raised born at altitude. Dibaba, e.g. QED.

Now after the fact, she fastest female runner (and I mean double-x) all of sudden other athlete and association jealeous, not want her run fastly.

When the sun set at end of day, there won't be things but dust. Those dust will settel into wind and then she will be still - best athleta.

Rest assured, EVERY top soccer team is doping. Every single one. The drug testing is pretty much non existent, teams get pre warnings and not every player has to be there, ie. if someone is at risk of being caught they just don't turn up. EACH football club has budgets several times bigger than WADA's annual budget to test EVERY SINGLE athlete in EVERY SINGLE sport they govern, meaning the very best doctors can be used so they will always be ahead of the doctors trying to catch them, and bribery is also very easy. Finally, a team can have one player caught doping in a match and still have zero comsequences, so the risks are fairly low. At the end of the day, all that matters in football is money, so FIFA couldn't care less. Rest assured, football is more corruot than athletics.

Also ironic that you refuse to watch athletics except for the 100m, which is the dirtiest event of all.

You're expecting people to be reasonable. Murder can get you a life sentence and yet people still do it.

I know it would never completely get rid of doping, but it would get rid of 99%. Murder may happen, but it is extremely rare thanks in part to the very harsh consequences.
