In some ways, that was what bugged me the most. It made me wonder if there is someone besides Brown who is willing to prescribe thyroid meds for elite athletes.

PS Did you notice Alberto's wording in his discussion of how many of his athletes use thyroid meds? He talks about the percentage of athletes who got a prescription while they were training with him. So he's not counting anyone who got a prescription before they started working with him. Cute!

Sure he could. That's why I said not all reason for suspicion is gone, but the claim you're making is one that cannot be proven to be false even if it is. As of now I know that Salazar has a documented, long-term, prescription for Androgel. There are old emails where he references how much he uses on himself. I (and this is just my opinion) can believe his crazy paranoia would lead him to test a scenario like Gatlin claimed. That works for me, but certainly there could be other sources of Androgel that could be used on athletes.

Alberto has himself covered. You'd have to take the conspiracy the final step and claim he premeditated it so thoroughly as to line up all the evidence before every action. So he's either the best coach ever of the best premeditated criminal ever.

Serious question. Why does Magness get a free pass at this point? Of the claims in the original article, the only one that he made that wasn't refuted was the 2002 lab document. Did anyone read that an think he wasn't either lying or inaccurate on the Dusseldorf/Mayo Clinic/Prednisone and pills in the book incidents? Salazar did not fully address all claims, but there was a clear chain of emails on both incidents that showed Magness to be inaccurate, a liar, or both on those two items.

He was worried that the meds would not make it through customs. He also was consulting with Ian Stewart to find a doctor who could prescribe in Germany. No international laws were broken, but it woud not be out of the realm of possibility for the customs office to hold the package for inspection if it looks and feels like a pill bottle.

You were quite quick to make the allegations that the Androgel couldn't be Salazar's because it was contraindicated for someone with a heart condition. That's one example of your one track mind. Urine test at Mayo, sounded quite suspicious; I'd say Salazar's documentation explanation is more convincing that Magness' on that point. The pills in the book, again Salazar's documentation seems to explain that incident. So to say it doesn't change anything, come on.

First, that is one long, detailed letter, and I'm still going back to re-read things. NOP Supporters on this thread were awfully quick with their multiple, detailed responses. Almost as if they saw this letter before many of us had the chance to read it. Hmmmmm.

So far, I am most troubled by the Dr. Brown revelations. From the emails in 2011, it appears Dr. Brown directed Salazar to tell Goucher to take The Cytomel prescribed to Rupp (Salazar mentions in the email he has the Cytomel Brown prescribed for Galen - why mention that?). What doctor tells a third party to instruct one of his patients to ingest someone else's medication, or prescribe mess without performing blood work or a physical exam? What exactly are the rules in regards to this? And is there any proof that Dr. Brown specifically wrote a prescription for Cytomel for Goucher?

And the "someone was rubbing Galen's shoulders after the race, could be testosterone cream sabotage, let's do a bunch of tests" is just crazy talk. Wonder if that guy will confirm or deny he was rubbing Rupp's shoulders?!?!

Supplements that increase "levels" (of what?) are not the gray area he's talking about. There is no illegal level of iron, there is no ban on any iron supplement, so it is impossible to even go to a gray area with that. If you pay better attention to some dude you wouldn't ask dumb questions.

I looked into getting my diabetes, blood pressure, and anxiety meds mailed from Canada to the US and was told it was illegal. Couldn't be done.So while he's playing fast and loose with some rules I'm sure, it's starting to sound like this was legit.

Depends who you believe...I'm sure most coaches hollow out a book to send non-illegal meds to their athletes.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, the prevalence of true hypothyroidism (Alberto incorrectly uses the term "incidence" -- actually he writes this as "incident") in the general U.S. population is less than 1 in 300.

Going only by the results of blood testing in the absence of symptoms ("biochemical hypothyroidism"), this rises to about 1 in 22.

So when Alberto notes that "only" 5 out of 55 (or 1 in every 11) NOP athletes have been diagnosed with the condition since joining the program -- seeming to imply strongly that others brought a diagnosis into the game with them -- I'm not sure what the "only" is supposed to mean.

This should come as no surprise given how the NOP's own endocrinologist, the aforementioned Dr. Jeffrey Brown, deviates from his peers when it comes to establishing a diagnosis of hypthyroidism.

Everyone understands,now that Galen without TUEs is not even close to the runner he has become, If you have asthma maybe you shouldn't be running. Cam Levin just got asthma too! Amazing !

The massage therapist's claims are the most damning ones left. Alberto had a prescription for Androgel and knew the exact amount he could get away with applying. It's possible he put it on Galen during private massages whether or not Galen knew.
