Yuppie Running vs. Blue Collar Running

Heck, the Native American post is still running, how about this one? There has to be more!

Running encounters:

YR: Running on a dirt trail in an Open Space park outside of the city and wave or nod to passing runners.

BCR: Running on a Rural paved road that hasn't been repaved in nine years, and flip off High School kids (that know who you are because only 300 kids go to your High school) who call you a fag and throw beer cans at you while practically hanging out of their '92 Ford Pick-up with a 3 inch lift (They also think that they have the greatest and toughest car in the world)

Peoples impressions while they drive past you running:

YR: "Wow, he is in great shape...I need to go to the Gym More..." Then the driver slows down and gives you a wave.

BCR: "What the hell is that kid doing?...GET OUT OF THE ROAD IDIOT!!! Then the driver punches the gas pedal and flies past you.

Ah... Bringing back old high School memories...

Agree with what someone said above about Wejo but I don't know how or why people are overlooking the man who is probably the epitome and soul of BCR among the elites of the past 30 years and that's Steve Jones. His story must not be familiar enough with posters on this site. Oh and irony of ironies last I heard he still lived in Boulder.

YR: saves big kick for last 100m- sometimes 50m out.

BCR: is kicking from the gun, only has one gear.

travel to race

YR: pre-booked taxi-= saves reciept to claim back later

BCR: subway- thinks 'no f**k that im saving my $2' and runs the 5 miles as warm-up'

Plus the Nike Shox vs. minimalist really isn't a distinction between yuppie and blue collar. Yes shox are expensive, but who runs in those that's fast anyways? Zoom Elites are minimalist and they also aren't that cheap. Worth it to me anyways. The H Streets really aren't very cheap for how much is built into them.

I'm fast for a 38 yo has-been (pretty hard-core, too). I have found that the shox are quite good actually, and one of the reasons I like them is that they last a LONG time.
