This is likely to be CYA for the husband. He's a lawyer. There's a danger that, if he knew or profited from this, he could get disbarred.
Those that really "know" her might be able to forgive, but those who simply "know of her" never will...

Gee, ya think? She may have had a few apologist fans, but the majority of us knew that Suzy's cheese slipped off her cracker a long time ago. From her multiple chokes in world class competition...to dedicating races to her dog...to her self-absorbed and reality-challenged interview in the Big Ten Icons documentary -- We all knew she was nuts.
So, yeah, I guess it's sad that mental instability may have played a role in this. But I still would have put out (no pun intended) $600+ for her servies.
