Slow out there today? I know Winnecone can get windy this time of the year, but the times seem slow up front.

Yeah musta been muddy or something. Calvin shows they can run with and beat North Central, so that\'s gonna be a battle at nationals. Still no sign of John Crain or Nick Kramer from NC and Calvin respectively.

Haverford averages 24:50 or something like that at Princeton today, showing they are coming in to good form as well.

It was pouring rain all morning and was a bit windy. They finally got the race started at 11:15 (men were supposed to go at 10:30) after a break in occasional strikes of lightning that had been delaying the race. They ran men and women "together" starting women 2 minutes after the men. Course was soaked and had a few areas on the loop get pretty muddy but it wasn't terrible. Definitely ran slow but not sure how slow.

Job and Jeb huh...anyone know if their sisters Eve and Mary run?

Yeah, the course definitely ran slow today. It was pretty soggy and rainy/windy throughout the race. I thought Calvin looked very impressive, as did the Midwest schools. The individual battle up front was pretty cool, as those two guys were battling back and forth the entire last half of the race. I doubt the champion will come from the Midwest this year, but Eau Claire looked pretty strong mixing it up with WashU and NC. Stevens Point, Augie, and Chicago also looked good. I'm not sure what happened to Wheaton.

First really solid performance by Haverford so far this season. It is encouraging for them that Schilit is back up front where one would assume he belongs. Also, more impressive is the 30 second spread without Peter Kissin who has been their top guy (missing today for a test or something). They will certainly be a factor in November.

Some notes as we enter post season...

1. Will the defending D3 champs Wash U ladies make it to the big (little?) dance? Where is national qualifier Sarah Fischer?

2. Will Williams women win another regional title?

3. Can Calvin men beat NCC when it counts? Can Haverford?

Do any teams from New England have a shot at winning this thing? The midwest does not seem to have a single dominant team this year.

Seriously? So the whole last mile of the course the men had to weave through the women's pack? This must have been mass chaos.

At first I thought you were an idiot because the women started after the men not before, but then i remembered the women were running 6k, so i imagine this would have been a problem at some point.

Geneseo and NYU duke it out for a win at Oberlin. Course was dry for the first time in years (leading to very fast times in itself) but was also slightly changed leaving the men's .05 short. This according to their coach at the meet, it had to be changed because of some campus construction project in the back trails. Women's course was right on and the race played out with the Oberlin women winning decisively over the Geneseo women.

To fix the shortness add on 15-20 seconds and you'll still see that both Atlantic region men finished in an average of under 25 minutes. Geneseo looking very strong, even without their usual third runner Cohen Miles-Rath, who was held out but could be seen jogging the course.

15 to 20 seconds short my a$$... Jones and Over might be top 5-10 caliber runners this year, but no chance they are sub-24 on a legit 8k course. only sathre and berube did that at oshkosh last year on one of fastest legit courses in the country. i would guess more like 45 seconds short of a full 8k.

False. It was measured and was about .05 short (if that). Also google mapped it and it came out to right about 4.94. 15 seconds is accurate.

The fast times are merely a product of teams rounding into form, the dry and pancake flat course, the absolutely perfect weather, and the high level of competition present at the meet (the front of the pack went out in sub-4:40 I believe, th main bulk was all under 5:00 through mile 1) stop hatin'

I lol'ed when I saw the Oberlin results. 45sec is a lot more accurate when you put these guys on a normal xc course maybe even a minute for some of them. I guess it's a great race to say you got a pr but you can't really tell anything from these results. Most of the guys who raced here will never come close to that time again this season. The winner's result of 23:30xx is hilarious. That's 29:23 10k pace in an xc course and even if you add on 15sec that's still ridiculous for a guy that ran 24:34 two weeks before.

Or that the NYU guys who ran at Williams a month ago ran 2 minutes faster at Oberlin.

course is crazy fast... but if you look at times from all-ohio to oberlin, the average was about a minute difference- so you're trying to say that EVERYONE had a good day, not just the top guys for whom the competition mattered. all-ohio was also dry and a pretty fast course itself. no way it's only a 15 second difference.

Now that Inter-Regional competition is mostly over, how many teams do you think will get out of each (men and women)?
