Thanks for the encouragement all. Hopefully I'll find myself a way out of this situation as well. Not sure how, but, why should stop me from hoping.

So, it turns out, after my bone marrow biopsy, I don't have leukemia. That has been officially ruled out. And, apparently, however they ran the test, my previous cancer has been ruled out as having metastasized. They are now thinking lymphoma. At this point, they are running special stains and won't have results until Monday. Guess, I'm only cancer type #3...with carcinoma from my 20's, the sarcoma from 2 years ago, and, now, lymphoma. More details to come. Hopefully, this is good news as I am praying I have the curable form of lymphoma. We'll see.

Good to hear about the negative leukemia finding. I marvel at your resilience!

Our friend's Hodgkins treatments are ongoing. I haven't seen her for a while, as she is discouraged from having contact with anybody while her immune system is depressed. She says the best thing about it is that everywhere she goes is air conditioned! (100F here)

Ha, the meet went pretty well. Moved yet higher in the rankings, and made sure to tell the other guys why I had chosen to run that day. Still can't go my fastest, but have been able to continue training while changing things up a bit to manage the injuries, which I think are healing nicely.

Maybe next meet I should print up a dedicated singlet!

OK. Basically good news if I understand correctly. Not perfect, but it could be much worse, right?

Of all the stupid threads I've opened, read, and even started, I'm now officially ashamed that I hadn't yet opened and read this one.

In one sense, yes, it may be very good news. If it's not my primary type of cancer (the incurable sarcoma) that's great. Now, I just have to hope and pray it's a treatable/curable form of lymphoma. If it's not treatable/curable, I'm back at square one, or, worse, if the other stuff starts to flare up. I've got a couple of days to not worry about it too much, but, I found myself pretty distracted at work today. It's kind of surreal to be working as if nothing's going on not knowing how long you'll be alive, or, if one of two forms of cancer will be the end of you.

Well it's not lymphoma. Probably my original cancer. Doctors didn't give me a time frame but said it would not be a bad idea to put my affairs in order. Wow. Pretty underwhelmed with the way my life has turned out. Just numb at the moment and gravity of the situation.

Sending you positive thoughts- you're in my prayers. I hope the doctors are wrong. Take care of yourself.

Any decision on the anniversary? That book idea sounded like a good idea. Not just for your kids, but for theirs as well.

My dad's esophageal cancer looks like it cleared up with the treatments, but he has some kind of stage 4 lymphoma that he'll have to have treatments on for the rest of his life. No idea how long that is. No one does.

I'm sorry your not getting any better information from your doctors. Think about letting LRC know who you are (through the BroJos?). Maybe they could put a little place on the site aside? We'd love to do whatever we can to help you and your family. We've all had some sort of loss and can share and heal together.

Who'd have thought not having lymphoma could turn out to be a bad thing? I really can't tell you how sorry I am to read that.

That sucks.

IMHO, life isn't about the grand gesture or the grand plan, it's about the small actions and decisions that cumulate into a lifetime, however long that is.

The thing is, none of us knows exactly how we've affected the world, and those around us. Don't sell yourself short.

Is there anything that you want those of us in the letsrun community to do?

All our best wishes to you. Stay strong and do what you can, not knowing whether this will be the one. We all stand at the abyss but we don't know it.

Doctor gave me six months to live.

I couldn't pay the bill. He gave me another six months.
