LA will go untouched because of his cancer research foundation as well as entanglement with nike. a positive test would be catastrophic from a cancer research aspect, as well as too many dollars lost for nike. if landis came up with a picture, that would be something, wouldn't it? if you are still naice enough to believe that LA is not guilty of the allegations, then you are completely delusional. it's far too coincidental to have all different types of accusations, as well as the number of teammates, etc. who have already been convicted of PED use. maybe they'll put LA and his ex wife under oath? maybe lance will finally pay for being a prick to his fans and others who have supported him in austin and all over the world. do you really think that h, ferrari, and bruyneel will be so calculated in every little aspect of training, travel, diet, etc. but not pay attention to drugs? give me a break. do you remember LA saying when he was maybe 23 and indurain was destroying people...he says, "i'm busting my ass, and i can't compete with these guys." so amazingly, he comes back with superhuman efforts to absolutely punish PROVEN ped users? They are dismissive of that claim because it'd require paying off not just the UCI, but also WADA, USADA, the testing lab, etc. Highly unlikely. Plus if Lance had ever had any positive tests, l'Equipe would have been all over it before UCI even heard about it.

Ohh, I see what you're getting at, I bet they swapped drugs the whole time and talked about who's doing what drugs and which drug is on the horizon etc.

Listen, you don't really expect us to believe that every Nike athlete or person is on drugs do you? Or adidas? Their athletes have been busted despite most of the top track athletes as nike people. Hell, Adidas was all over the E. Germans.

All of this is so crazy to me.

I spent some time on rides and hanging around hotel rooms with Floyd back when he was a mountain bike racer. Everybody loved the dude and he's literally one of the funniest humans I've ever met. He was just a young dude with a ton of talent. He switched over to the road and then all this happens. He was just a normal dude that got thrown into a crazy situation and set of circumstances. Made some bad choices obviously but I think most of us probably would have made the same choices in that culture.

Anyway, nothing really to add to the conversation other than that it blows my mind how that normal guy that everybody loved to be around is now balls deep in living hell.

Yup, people should remember that when they procaims somebody evil or otherwise categorize them in some sort of absolute way. I'd like to think I was above cheating, but I've never been in the sort of situation he was....

Life is not simple and people rarely fall into neat categories. In some ways I'm sure he is still that normal, funny guy. In other ways I'm sure he has been changed by his experiences.

Seems like a lot of people presume that Landis is somehow accusing Lance, or going after Lance for the sake of catching a past cheat.

Does anyone else think that Landis sent these private e-mails to the different organizations to help clean up the sport?

It's not about convicting past cheats, but about improving testing to catch future cheats. Isn't that what Lemond encouraged him to do, at the beginning of all this, and he's finally coming around to it, after he's lost everything, and wants to gain back his self-respect, and a full nights sleep? Aren't most cyclists concerned about that? I think they all want a playing field where they don't have to cheat to compete.

Contrary to what the SI article a few posts up from this says, I'm hearing that Lances ex-wifey has agreed to tell all.

This is coming from a pro cyclist that usually doesn't spread rumors that are not true.

We'll see how this all goes down. There have been alot of times in the past that I thought Lance may go down but this may be the best opportunity for it to happen.

Break out the pocorn. It could be an interesting next several months.

That's very interesting if true. Why would she do that? I guess spite could explain it, but she presumably has immunity from having to testify about anything that happened while they were married. You are right, meal ticket trumps spite, may have something to do with feds knocking at her door. Things usually change when people start contemplating a few years of Club Fed meals...

That would only be true if Kristin was an active participant in organizing/arranging the doping. If she just observed it I do not think they would be able to charge her w/ anything. Depends on the details.

Are you referring to the rumor that Kristin is "cooperating with authorities"? That doesn't mean she's going to tell all. The sh&t is not going to hit the fan with Armstrong...at best there will be a lingering waft of meef.

I don't believe that the adverse spousal privilege applies to ex-spouses or out-of-court testimony under federal law, so -- although communications between Lance and his then-wife may be protected by privilege -- her testimony about lots of things that she observed during their marriage could be compelled, even in criminal proceedings in which her ex-husband is the target.

Right, except the feds have the power of subpoena and perjury in and of itself is considered a serious felony.

Remember, Lance's head is for S.A. Novitzky what TDF is for Lance. Biggest possible trophy of their collection, expect a very interesting few months ahead...
