Weren't some people saying he might win it all this year? I know its early but based on that result people are going to have to re-think that one.

Same course.
Will the rankings change at all this week?? Who do you guys think the top 5 will be?

I'd be very surprised if he wasn't all-american he's a great runner and he should have a great senior year. I think he'll get 3 AA's this year when all is said and done.
Lots of movement in the rankings this week for both men & women-

Maybe so, but guys like DuBois, Leak, and Marker are known quantities and likely All-Americans. That those teams were able to put their packs so close to those top guys shows that they have strong teams.
To me, Cortland and Allegheny are appropriately ranked. Haverford looks a little high, but still top 15, and Dickinson is probably also worthy of being around 15th--though they seem to lack a strong 4-5. If Dickinson gets back Karwoski and Pecora (where are they?), they have a podium possible team. Without them, they're still good, but probably a team that finished in the teens or early 20s at Nats.
Where do you think Keene would be if they still had Craig Mac?
While the times are usually pretty fast at Paul Short (around 24:40-25:00 for the best DIII guys) the Lehigh course is 8003.5 meters according to my wheel. This year with Kosgie and Heymann running 23:40 and 24:10 they were just beasts. The course was the same as its always been, there were just better athletes this year.
probably in their dorms posting all over this message board.

course was same as it's always been, but every year is always slightly different as far as course condition and pacing. that said, I agree with your claim.

No.
Net Downhill ~400m
The start and finish are on the same field, there is no "net downhill".

The finish is ~200m from the start. The finish is not in a canyon.

That would be really cool though.

Thanks for the links! Interesting to see that five UAA women's teams are ranked. The NYU women are not (and probably shouldn't be, at this point), but I'm willing to bet that they'll finish higher than sixth at the UAA meet.
And on the men's side: Emory ranked higher than NYU? Well, we'll see... Of course, I'm the one who's a big advocate of ranking based on actual performance, not on woulda-coulda-shoulda, so it may well be that the Eagles are (currently) ranked just where they should be.
In any event, the UAA meet (on Hallowe'en) should be pretty hot, *assuming* the teams all run it all-out. (I suspect that the Oberlin meet, two weeks earlier, may be a bigger goal for some teams, though...)
yeah, I'm very much looking forward to that Oberlin meet next weekend. Lots of ranked teams & a very fast course!
That and the UW-Oshkosh Brooks Invite should provide for an exciting weekend for D3 XC leading up to Conference/Regionals/then Nationals! Season's really heating up now! :)
looks like UW Plattville and a partial UW Lax squad lost to Augustana and Wartburg yesterday.
