This is a great opportunity for anyone that wants to be a coach. You get to be at a P4. The person that gets this will have a way better coaching experience later on. If anyone wants to be at the top schools, apply to this job
Western New Mexico University opening - D2 small program, recently got into track a couple of years ago, low pay of 36K a year but a D2 opportunity. Not sure cost of living in that area, no matter what it is anything below 40K in this day is pretty terrible.
Maybe you are having trouble reading. He was trying to get them to built an INDOOR facility. They got a state of the art outdoor facility 5 years later because football wanted to use their old track as a practice field. From an Athens GA native. Georgia still does not have an indoor facility.

An intro person with no experience absolutely, but any experienced coach stay away
How hard is it to get a D1 coaching job? I don't have much experience and I'm about to graduate from a D3 school, but I want to get into coaching at the highest level.
Get a graduate assistant job or volunteer at D1 school. Networking is everything. Attend coaching clinics and find a mentor. Degree in exercise physiology or related is foundational. You won't get hired with no experience or connections.

They were one of the most funded distance teams in the miaa. Most their recruit classes were offered walk on spots at other miaa schools. So the money was only reason they went. my favorite quote from him “get 30 guys and pray 5 survive”
however it would be ironic if Blay left mo west to get away from him only for him to return As his coach
and it is Cunningham that is leaving. They were paying him dimes since he came into the position straight from being their ga after Gibson left mid season

That’s interesting, I got my start coaching as a GA in the MIAA and the vibe I got was they were a poverty team making it work so if what you’re saying is true then that’s very eye opening.
How are things looking this year? When will jobs start to open up?
They probably won't. People aren't as quick to leave decent jobs since the pandemic. The only jobs we'll see are coaches who have been fired or part time coaches trying to find a full time gig.

This is the most uneducated and silly post. There will be lots of the coaching shuffle going on in 2026. Just like every other year
