    Jserra coach burns his girls out every single XC season. his two good seniors from last year were in boots and crutches most of last year with stress fractures (Polay and Garcia). Current senior Tasser has been on crutches this year. His top runner this year has been dealing with injury (streadbeck) and Reese Holley had a fracture the year before. A bunch of absolute workhorses who end up getting overtrained into injury.

    J Serra only excels by recruiting girls who have been training at distance running for years already. They come in and do great right away because they are already near their personal potential. But almost invariably they end up fading in comparison to more talented girls who simply started training later. Like clockwork.

    It's a joke that they are allowed to rack up state titles against small public schools who are working with talent pools a tiny fraction of the size J Serra is working with. Not to mention they steal NXN bids from schools who can't recruit and instead develop their own local talent.

    Its AWESOME to see them BOMB year after year on the big stage.

    The girls ran pretty fast the year Touhy/N Young both won in a deluge/swamp. Several under 17 in worse conditions.

    Few immediate thoughts as someone who didn't watch this live:

    - California teams got destroyed. I knew it was coming obviously, no one recently has really had the same level of national intentionality that Great Oak, Newbury Park and Arcadia did in the past. Just make it to the state meet and then anything after is a bonus. Buchanan did plan this way and placed well in past years, but blew up today. Not sure what happened there. We should not be getting any at-larges next year.

    - Jackson Spencer. Impressive win. I've said that at least over the past few years, you have to be in sub-4 shape (or very close) to win an NXN title. I think Spencer is gonna run a great mile this year, but I see him as a future 5k guy for sure.

    - Dudek - wow. Great win with a bright future, but how many other families have had two children win a national XC title? I'm sure there has been at least one more.

    - Great performance by Niwot even with an off day by one of their top guys. 61 points is amazing. Sub-100 points at NXN is always impressive given the depth and conditions, and for Herriman to run 97 is still get second... wow. To beat the champ, you gotta knock em out- Van Meerten. Ran 15:0x on 15mpw a few years ago. I see 8:35/13:50 this year. Not even gonna try and predict next year.

    Oh, I want trying to make an excuse. I was generally curious and just observed that to CA teams tended to be from the coastline. I was genuinely curious if they use the beach as a training tool, especially when they know they will be in rough conditions

    What I forgot to mention is Coach Soles stated in that series he would have his runners run in sand. Great Oak is California's high desert area.

    This was not directed at you or anyone. Just my opinion that California runners and teams that have run well at NXN found a way in California to deal with the conditions they would face at NXN.

    They should name those two terraces near the end of the race the Pre Terraces. Pre use to say I want "to put crap in their legs." Those two terraces most definitely do that.

    What is your problem? Do you feel better about yourself if you bring down a young woman who obviously works very hard. You are being willfully ignorant to the known facts of how unpredictable young athletes can be and how growth factors can be higher impacts, including other variable factors unique to the girls. There is really no reason to be so derogatory towards this literal child that you probably don't even know

    Colin and Aaron Sahlman both won and i dont think anyone who watched him that year would try to add an asterisk since it was at Runninglane. He was winning no matter what course they held it on.

    Her friends and family are losing their mind because they built her up to be something kind of Hedengren which she never was. I’m sure it’s also hard for her to read all the posts expecting her to be a Dudek which she’s not. Let’s hope she’s not another Cain case.

    Yes, she is literally a child. Do you think you are a big man talking down about her? That is pathetic. I doubt you never achieved a fraction of what she has. She was off today, so what? A teenager having an off day is normal. I'm sure it is heartbreaking for her. She will take this and learn from it while you sit behind your keyboard still not able to run with her

    Correct! That’s all fluff. The only reason she got all the attention and NIL and constant publicity the last year or so was because of her name. Couldn’t live up to it. Intuition says she’s toast in terms of any further progression
