BTW, William's 4:58/final mile last week at Woodward Park gave her the confidence to try the same tactic today. Jaelyn stated post-race that indeed was her plan. Looked for all the world she had the race won with 400 to go. Then, like Leo in 2022, here come the steppes . . . and out the back she goes.
Still, remarkable even one girl broke 17 today given the mud & slop, much less 3 doing it.
Guess sub-17 for a 5k xc race has become the new standard for the top girls, regardless of conditions.
