I do think this will backfire for Democrats, but not because of your partisan reasoning. Before the files are released, the Trump admin is allowed to scrub information relating to national security. Trump's name won't be in it at all. Other Republicans will be protected. Obviously Dems are involved. They won't be protected, so then those who won't question why names were removed will see it as some sort of Trump win. We're never seeing the full document. Dems rushed to get this passed & the restraints will make it hard to put all the information out that the American people need to see. Dk why you would let the current admin decide what qualifies as national security or not. Trump has been ducking this forever & now he's all of a sudden good with it. We're not seeing the full version.

i respect massie for going against piggy, but massie is an extremist libertarian who is wildly out of sync with the country. Very few are interested in his Ban the Fed/Pro Insurrection/anti-environment/ sort of stance. And he's pro-immigration, which will cancel out much right wing support for him.
He is extreme and has a no real lane to a nomination. He's a Rand Paul sort of guy in the wings who is interesting, but has no wide constituencies. And whose radical views would distrupt the country
