This story has gone mainstream and is being picked up everywhere. For example, Megyn Kelly talked about it and has video clips of some of the key moments: https://www.youtube.com/watch?...
When his colleague at the New Yorker masturbated during a Zoom call, Gladwell couldn't figure out what the fuss was all about, saying "My only feeling... was that (New Yorker parent company Condé Nast) had taken an unexpected turn toward traditional Catholic teaching."
Why are you reading my posts if they're so tiresome? And I hate to tell you, but you don't get to tell anyone to shut up and move on. That's not how it works. People will always fight for their beliefs, so best prepare yourself for the long haul. You're also not being asked to kiss anyone's ass, just treat everyone with basic decency. Most people don't find that difficult.
Yeah, you’re fighting to allow men in women’s sports. Such a laudable cause!
And acting like he/she or whatever is Rosa Parks. 😂😂😂
JK Rowling did have the bålls to stand up for women's rights in sports when it was less mainstream than it is now. She deserves credit for that courage. She got a lot of backlash.
But no need to crucify Malcolm Gladwell who was not that courageous at a time he called "the height of trans momentum". He admitted to being cowed - so he admitted he was a coward. And he rightly apologizes for it. Everything people here say "he should've said something at the time, not two years later" he knows...

I'm not going to chime in on whether I agree with Gladwell on this or not, but the dude has some absolutely atrocious takes and I struggle why people still hold him up as an esteemed intellectual.
1.) He's a Joe Paterno apologist 2.) Blames Mary Cain for what Salazar put her through because, as he put it "she (a 17 year old girl) should have known what she was getting in to." 3.) He was "puzzled" and "couldn't find any intellectual justification" (his words) for why Jeffrey Toobin was fired from the New Yorker. For those who don't want to google it, Mr. Toobin was caught literally with his pants down playing with his ding-a-ling during a work zoom meeting.
I give zero fs about his skinny little Canadian ass, but it does show that many of the people who claim to be on the 20 side of this so-called 80/20 issue really aren’t and were just bullied into it.
Liberals: "Bullying is bad unless it's someone we disagree with. And then bully them a lot. And also they're Hitler."
That's exactly right. Too many people are just venting about trans people in general. I think you can make a reasonable argument about excluding trans people from women's sports, based on fairness and safety. But why does that have to be accompanied by the kind of misgendering of trans people that we know it hurtful? That has nothing to do with the argument about women's a sports, it's just malicious, intended to cause insult and harm.
Gaines added that she believes sports participation “will be the card that makes all of it crumble,” opening the door to convince the general public that trans women are not truly women and gender-affirming medical care for trans youth should be restricted.
Gaines further told the Times that she once berated, misgendered, and deadnamed her former college’s assistant swimming coach, who is a trans man. Directly after her tie with Thomas, Gaines claimed, she found the “distraught” and crying coach in the hotel lobby, who asked her why nobody had checked in on him. Gaines’ response was to misgender and deadname the coach, she told the Times, “‘because, quite frankly, no one cares how you feel.’”
Gaines shared the anecdote about her former coach “unprompted,” according to the paper, and further claimed that the coach later reported her for harassment. Responding to the Times’ request for comment through a spokesperson, the coach denied having filed a complaint against Gaines, and said he did not remember any such incident matching Gaines’ description of events.
That is Not anti-trans. It is Pro-woman Athletic Fairness and Safety. Simple. Period. It's also not a herd. It's breaking from the herd that managed to gain some seriously funky momentum. It was based on fear and guilt, and now the policies are much nearer reality and science and fact.
If trans females " just want to compete ", they still are able, and hopefully will --to at least stay physically heathy.
It is, by definition, anti-trans inclusion in sport. You can argue whether that's right or wrong, but you can't pretend that it's not anti-trans inclusion. Ross repeatedly makes that clear himself, that this is an issue about competing rights and wherever you land, one group is going to lose out in some way. The only issue that's really up for debate is which group you want to deprive. There's no perfect solution here, only a least imperfect outcome.
Has there been ANY significant pushback against FTM transfolk--trans men--participating in men's events? I just haven't seen any. So the issue isn't anti-trans inclusion, it's anti-trans-women (birth males) inclusion.
They aren’t women, they are mentally ill men. The mentally ill women who want to be men can’t compete against half decent men or even most mediocre males. But mentally ill men competing against women generally have too many physical advantages. They know this, which is why they stanp their feet and demand to invade women’s spaces.
An Australian “trans inclusive” Premier League women’s football team with five male players has secured victory in the grand final match after dominating games throughout the summer. During the 2024 season of the North West S...

Well, maybe not sports. But some cis boys are complaining about having to share a locker room with a trans boy.
The parents of two Virginia boys suspended for objecting to a female in their locker room say their kids tried to bring the matter up to officials, but their concerns fell on deaf ears.

They pretend that Trans not allowed in women’s sports means not allowed in sports as a whole.
When you call them out on this they get butt hurt.
They’re disingenuous on every level and expect to “respect” them.
Three women from Santa Rosa Junior College’s volleyball team have filed a federal Title IX complaint demanding the removal of a male player from their women’s squad. Sophomore Madison Shaw and freshmen Gracie Shaw and Brielle...

Question to user High Hopes: what do you envision as an ideal future that you would be happy with, in regards to trans women inclusion in women's sports? Would you be ok with most records in most events being held by trans women? Would you consider it progress if that happened and nobody noticed or cared? Do you think that could or would happen? Do you want that to happen
You mean, some boys are complaining about having to share a locker with a girl. Girls who wish they were boys are not a sub-category of boys.
Thanks for proving the point that "High hopes" is making.
This has absolutely nothing to do with "saving women's sports."
Reality should be recognized in all circumstances, and sports is one of them. Do you disagree? You believe that a girl who wishes she was a boy, is a boy? Sorry, that is not the case.

Nice try. Trans men don't have a physical advantage, so, No, there hasn't been any pushback. Matter of fact, you just proved it's not about just being trans, it's about males in women's sports. Simple. Thank you
