Agreed, Koech has been easily outkicked TWICE by Laros now and Koech was able to beat Kerr in a kick in London. It remains to be seen how sharp Hocker is gonna be but you can't count me out either and he always seems to peak at the right time (same as Kerr though).
You also can not count out Jakob.. ever... he is the biggest unknown now going to Worlds, however, when he races he always shows up in shape. The 1500m at Worlds this year is going to be epic!
Freudian slip...this might be Cole Hocker lol even sounds like him.
He is only 20 years old though lol and being able to close at the end of a fast 1500m is more about who still has something left (more aerobically strong) to use there speed. At his age its usually common to make improvements like this year to year.
Yared is so positive and easy to root for. I’m happy that he went for it even if it didn’t work out in the end. What do y’all think was different for him this year vs. last year? Was it that he focused on the 800 (for Grand Slam) over 3k/5k strength stuff, normal post-Olympic slump, or something else?
He ran faster at the Wanamaker and Bowerman miles this year, so I wouldn't say it was a post-Olympic slump. I think the U.S. championships was a combo of stronger competition this year, him exerting himself too much in his semi, and running a bit too fast in the first 1200m in the final. As for today, I'd love to hear his take on it, but I reckon running three DL races in a 12-day span and having that span commence just two weeks after the U.S. final was not the best schedule planning.

I think he tried to do a little too much throughout the season.
Few Examples:
-Going after the indoor mile WR again after losing it...
-Going pretty much flat-out in his USAs prelim for the last 1,100 -Actually putting in 800m training for GST (Hocker and Kerr didn't seemingly do this) -Running Brussels 1500m after winning in Silesia
I think just did marginally too much in big spots.
Brutal…Aussies not getting a spot out of this is crazy. Kenya already has 4.
Men’s 400 and women’s 5000 are the only two events where new spots have been unlocked so far. Every other event the winner has either already had four spots or not had four athletes meeting the standard (by ranking or time).
Four now. Kenya in the women’s steeple and Jamaica in the men’s 100m.

I actually can see why it makes sense. The entire Diamond League season is built on pacers and chasing fast times. Why would you turn it into championship racing for one race only? That's what the literal championships are for.

Don't disagree with this. But whether it's because of this or incidental to this, it seemed like he was at his fittest at Pre. Like Hobbs, did not seem like he was in peak form these last six weeks.
