If he did not have a legitimate asylum claim, he would have been ordered to be deported a month after he was sent to El Salvador, where the US will be paying $20,000 a year to keep him in detention (hello?? Elon? DOGE? Anyone want to chime in on the fact that the US is paying $20k a year to house an immigrant when they could have deported him and paid $0?).
