SIAP, but this article mentions that the strongarm robbery and domestic battery charges stem from a May 7th incident with his ex-wife with whom he has three children.
Bringing in yet another article. This one with details of his court hearing today. It makes no mention of the new domestic violence or robbery charges, but does note that the battery on a police officer charge is a felony, while the others are misdemeanors.
“This seems like a total misunderstanding,” Sanford said. “Mr. Kerley is a record-breaking athlete. He has served in the Olympics for the United States track and field (team). He is a model citizen in our community. This is nothing more than an overreaction by the police.”
So was Oscar Pistorius. I guess he should have been let go, too. After all, he's an Olympian!

I find it interesting that that happened in May and he conveniently “mutually parted ways with ASICS” in June. This now seems like asics knew about the incident and dropped him immediately. This wasn’t a dispute over spikes.
The charges from May will have no bearing on this current incident. The police boxed Fred in then one of them laid his hands on Fred trying to grab him. Game over for Miami PD.
The incident in May has already been proven to be a false accusation. If there were any merit to it Kerley would have been taken into custody and charged. Miami PD is not so incompetent that they can't find someone as high profile as Kerley who has a domicile in Florida. The Miami prosecutor is now trying to bring up this garbage to cover for the stupid cops.
Kerley also has the right to defend himself. The stupid cops started the incident by shoving and grabbing him. If the redneck Miami justice systems does not drop the felony "battery" charge Fred needs to keep appealing all the way to the US Supreme Court if necessary.

Hopefully they keep him in there. He isn't special he assaulted a Police officer he is wrong. He interfered with police business and got his but whooped for it no judge or court is going to side with him.
fred wins in court if it gets that far and he might win a lawsuit
lrc racists go home devastated
And what business did he have in the vicinity? He parked his car in an area that became restricted by police and he tried going in there. If they said it's restricted his drunk butt should have used Uber to get home and returned in the morning when the area was not longer restricted!
Charging “battery on a police officer” and “resisting arrest without violence” also seems contradictory. Did he hit a cop or didn’t he?
The body cam footage makes the resisting charge seem more plausible than battery. Though I still don’t like the way the cops acted here.
You guys are really stupid, you know that? I swear people have lost all abilities to think critically.
They are 2 separate charges. He is alleged to have bettered a police officer (pushing an officer would qualify) and then when they tried to arrest him for said battery, he resisted without violence. Resisting without violence is refusing to put your hands behind your back, curing up into a ball, or doing anything to avoid being arrested while not using violence or fleeing. Fleeing is a different charge as is resisting with violence. It's not that hard people.
Kerley's girlfriend, Cleo Rahman, 32, a national DJ known as Dj Sky High Baby, also is facing a charge of resisting an officer without violence charge because "her actions took several officers to divert their attention from assisting the officers to deal with her," according to the arrest report. Florida's Halo Law, effective on Wednesday, establishes a 25-foot buffer zone around first responders to protect them during active duties and violations are classified as second-degree misdemeanors.

Well he is a decorated Olympian who represented the USA, so he’s kind of special.

He’s already been released. It’s mentioned in the article I posted about the hearing.

That doesn't mean anything to the courts. How many NFL football players are doing time? What about Masterson he is a millionaire celebrity. The courts are sick of these guys thinking the law doesn't apply to them.
