So on decath - I am an ex-decathlete. Let's go conservative numbers
100 - 10.37, maybe faster (1,006)
LH would have to be over 7.50, potentially close to 8. Let's split it at 7.75 (997)
SP not great, let's go 12m. He may be capable of better (606)
HJ should be ok, 2.00 (803)
400 he'd do speed endurance for PV training 47.0 or faster (958)
End of 1st day, 4,370
110H - needs some training, let's go 14.2 (949)
discus - bottom out at 38m (624)
PV - has fatigue, safe at 5.95 (1,214)
Jav - 48m (559)
1500 - 4.30 (745)
2nd day - 4,091 (2 throws)
total - 8,461
Throws I am underestimating them all. He could go significantly better at HJ, LJ, 400 and all throws. But there's a baseline.
Can you do the same estimating for Karsten? They showed footage of him doing LJ and HJ in the video as well, so it appears he has capacity to be competitive in the decathlon too

I ate crow on this one. Warholm as a world record holder in a 400m event was my fav. Frankly he didn't disappoint, Mondo just rose above. Mondo actually looked like full time sprinter near the end with the knee lift etc..
Can anyone provide a rough translation of what they were saying to eachother in the last 30s during the fireworks, or identify what language it is? I thought I read a while back that Mondo's Swedish was rough, at best, but he seems fluent-ish in whatever language he was speaking with Karsten based on the ease of their conversation.
Haven't seen anybody point this out, but Mondo has run ever only a single hundred meter race. I'm sure if he actually ran a few and focused on it even a little, he could get that down to 10.2*. Not that he'd really have any incentive to since that is still far from internationally competitive, but fun to consider since people threw the decathlon out there.
This is an embarrassment for the sport. You see the 400mH world record holder get rolled up by a pole vaulter. A guy with faster PR than Rai Benjamin just get rolled by a pole vaulter. Just makes the running seem like a joke. All this “big 3” in the hurdles and then just rolled up like carpet by a non runner.
Yeah, rolled by a pole vaulter who ran an elite 100m (10.5) in HS many years ago. Obviously he’s going to get faster as a pro in peak years. Tell me you don’t know track…

mmmmmm, I dont know. I see your point, but mondo isnt training for the 100 at all for years. Warholm is a long sprinter world record level guy. Im still impressed with what Mondo did. He looked like a guy who practiced the 100 for the last year.
As some have mentioned, lets be honest, do we really know who is faster? I wonder if KW was hitting on all cyliders and going 100%? Maybe he was going 95% not wanting to tear up a hammy?
As a Swedish Canadian fluent in both English and Swedish can say his Swedish is excellent from interviews I’ve seen. Has an accent but no problems speaking it at all.
