Can someone tell me once again why we need everyone to double? I'm fine with some athletes doubling but still am yet to see the benefit of scoring things across two events.
Champions league soccer does this with home and away matches but it is much easier to digest. It is known throughout the game who is winning. In this one forget about it. The winner of the race will often not be the winner of the 100k.
George Beamish and Morgan McDonald asked Kyle Merber about this on the Coffee Club podcast and Kyle's response was not very good. When the CC guys pointed out that this setup would be really anti-climatic, Kyle said that "arguably you have multiple climaxes".

It's a bad spin on trying to do a "series" like how DL does the points total qualifying you for the final or how MLB and other sports do a multi-game series. I guess seeing athletes somewhat out of their comfort zone (if they're super specialized in their event) could be sorta fun, but I imagine whatever 2nd race they run will be worse than their first unless they sandbag.
A good signing, who are other athletes that would be good for the 800/1500? I think its 4 signed athletes per gender/event with the other 4 chosen meet to meet. Wightman, Hocker, Giles? Need some speed based 1500m runners.
They need to add a "Last Man Standing" 5k. 14 racers. The person in last place at 200 (and then each successive 400) is eliminated until there's 2 left with 400 to go. That would be wildly entertaining.
Does anyone know how does drug testing work for grand slam track? Do they leave it up to USADA or will they have their own in competition testing and commission or support usada in some way for out of competition etc?
Interesting looking back through the original thread when this league was first announced. It seems like there was a lot of anticipation and support. But it lost momentum over time and completely jumped the shark last night.

Even more interesting now.
So many of the concerns echoed in this thread (and many similar ones created in this time frame) were so absolutely right on the money. Crazy how a bunch of "messageboard losers" could quite accurately predict a number of key issues that somehow a visionary Olympic hero and his team of highly paid sports "executives" ultimately couldn't.
Which ultimately is the saddest part about this - that a lot of pitfalls could have been avoided which would have at least increased this ventures chances of survival.
Someone posted that none of the athletes have been paid yet (for any of the meets).
I just replied to that post. Very odd situation with some agents receiving 40% of Kingston invoices, randomly at the beginning of this week. What that means is anyones guess.
