Inaccurate article. He is 100% not charged with attempted rape or possession of drugs. He is charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Source: Google -"Carrying an illegal firearm, (in Kenya) is a serious crime, which under Section 4 of the Act attracts up to 10 years in jail without the option of a fine. In fact, if the firearm or ammunition is one of the types prohibited in law, then the sentence shall not be less than seven years and not more than 15 years." (end quote).
It is good news, (at least) that justice showed the rape allegations were not valid. Now Zane was charged, (according to the 2 posters who seem to be ITEN residents and in the know), with the illegal possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. Not sure how this will play out. We wish him courage and fortitude during these challenging times. One feels for the guy. No choirboy, but he's a human who erred big time.
In most countries, you can greatly lessen the time spent, behind bars, for good behaviour. Worst case scenario, a few years.... hopefully not.
The article says he’s out on bail for attempted rape and weapons charges.
The punishment for the weapons charge is life in prison.
He faces the very real possibility of spending the rest of his life in an African jail.

According to the two Wazungu in ITEN, the article is inaccurate.
According to the court reporting in the online newspaper, he is on bail for weapons and attempted rape.
According to random unknown posters on a running forum the rape charge was dropped.

life in prison for having an AK47. That’s the law in Kenya!
I know people who were in the court. The only charges relate to the firearm and ammunition.
So why are the newspapers saying he is on bail for attempted rape?
For all we know you are Zane trying to bury the highly shameful charge of attempted rape.
I know people who attended the court. Zane was released on bail for Attempted Rape and weapons possession. The investigation uncovered an actual rape did not happened, but they have evidence of Attempted Rape, a lesser charge.
The AK47 charge is some serious stuff. Lifetime in jail is the minimum and maximum punishment.
Zane denied all the charges and tried to place blame elsewhere, exactly like he did with his doping charge.
He is due back in court in a month’s time.
Probably, one got it wrong and others are using that rather than the primary source.
Look at the websites/newspapers you are linking, do you think they had a journalist in Iten for it? Look at tweets from KTM and Standard media in Kenya and see what charges they mention.
What drugs are you on? KTM is a motorcycle company in Nairobi.
Zane is on bail for attempted rape dude. Why are you trying to cover for him?
Also, The Standard reported Robertson’s arrest for sexual assault.

Very confusing reports re Zane's predicaments. There is this, then others saying the contrary - who are we to believe? I go with the Wazungu on the ground at the ITEN law courts.
On an intuitive basis I go with the "100% not charged with attempted rape or possession of drugs." Why? Because had Zane really commited a heinous crime, there is no way he would have been released on bail. Not going to happen.
We wish Zane good luck in his legal endeavours. May he come out of this unscathed, reborn, and ready to discourage others from doing same. He has many valuable assets he can teach others.
Based on newspaper articles, by court reporters, Robertson has been granted bail in order to sell off his assets in order to line the pockets of every government official he has contact with while in the system. Based on known facts of his arrest and bail, I am 100% certain he will not be shown leniency. He is on his third strike. Used banned drugs in Kenya, accused Kenyans of doping, smuggled banned drugs into Kenya, tried to cover up his drip taking by blaming a Kenyan doctor, bought an AK47 on the black market and kept it in his house, tried to anally rape a Kenyan woman with some other man at a party at his house, had a weapon and drugs in his car. I predict they will throw the book at him and make an example of him.
Also Ghost weren’t you the dude trying to get convicted drug cheat, John Ngugi a coaching gig in the US, a man with zero coaching credentials and no education.
Are you the patron saint of Kenyan lost causes?

Would that run be through dangerous game country?
A pack of lions or a big buffalo might take his butt out.
He is not on bail for attempted rape.
